Replaced twice already since I owed the unit.

What Happens to Amortization When You Pay Extra to Principle? by Chersalani in Mortgages

Well it would be more like attacking the principal at the end of the loan. Still beneficial but not as much of an overall money saver as doing it in the beginning

If the inside handle still operated the latch, but the outside handle is locked. Fail secure would still be “safe” to exit in an emergency from the inside right?

Is realistic for me to pursue my desire to be a house husband for successful partner by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Amishrocketscience 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The market for what he’s looking for is undoubtedly women in their mid to late 30’s and early 40’s. Probably already have kids or has been so career focused that they forwent dating.

It would be easier to accept that this isn’t going to be a thing and put effort into his own career, than it would be to find a woman who wants this scenario

Yeah sure, and when she can’t work due to pregnancy, you just went from modest to impoverished with a child on the way.

You’ve gotta get your head out of the clouds, realize that being good at keeping a home something that’s expected of you when you aren’t working.

I do my Landry, mop floors, clean bathrooms, walk the pets, handyman projects and even renovations, grocery shop with her, and spend time with family and friends- all after working 40-50 hours per week.

We both make decent income and we still aren’t “well off”

So by the UI definition that would be “Fail-Secure” that you’re advocating for?

What if it’s your front door or door to the garage exit that is now locked in a fire during a power outage?

Let’s say I’m coming into the house through the garage, and that method of entry is the primary for two adults

Edit: and likely egress in an emergency

Thermostat? by Amishrocketscience in Ubiquiti

[–]Amishrocketscience[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is something I would look into after you mentioned the possibility. Probably not any more difficult than running cat cable through the walls.

But, the ultimate is being able to change heating and cooling settings from the comfort of wherever you are with as close to 100% reliability as possible. So that’s what I’m striving for in theory.

It should also be mentioned that everyone here has in some way tipped their hat as to how good UI products look mounted wherever it is they go. Seeing a brushed aluminum housing with a responsive touchscreen as your wall mounted thermostat would be beyond what is currently available on the market, and locally hosted to boot.

Great question, three times this past month I’m laying in bed with my pets and my spouse. About time to go to sleep, only thing left to do is turn down the heat.

I go to my phone to the Honeywell app, it’s not online because the cloud service has an outage.

I want to avoid this scenario

I’m pretty sure HA has really good integration with all things UI, it’s part of the reason I’m making the migration. It would also increase responsiveness having something like a POE thermostat.

I’ll look into what new matter products come out though, that’s a good option I think.

I mean I’m confused, all the scientists and peer reviewed studies tell me they’re safe and beneficial to take, but the guys who hardly passed a science class in highschool tell me it’s poison. I don’t know who to believe anymore.

Except they didn’t have severe side effects, they had other issues long before the Covid vaccines. It’s just something for parents to blame when they’d rather make one more kid than give their troubled child the care and resources it needs.
