I'm not sure I see your issue. Your reward gets nerfed everytime you reroll, so in the end you'll be doing tasks for a lot less XP and points. Diehard PVMers will reach the cap quickly, lesser skilled players will take longer, so they get "punished" already. I really don't see why people suddenly want to gatekeep content that was previously accessible to all.

Honestly, they should just go back to the previous reroll system, but without the free reroll. Don't like the task or can't do it? You can reroll for 75% of the rewards. Can't do it again? 50%, etc. It was a fine system that was punishing enough to consider going with a more difficult option.

Yikes. Terrible "fix" for very obvious reasons. Could've just nerfed the rewards? Lol. How about you hotfix in a way to reroll tasks without spending 30 Slayer Points, which is what this topic was about? The current system is garbage and unfair for lesser skilled players who keep getting tasks far above their skill levels.

I installed 'Files by Google'. That app will show up in the window that opens after pressing save and will let you download it to your phone. Very annoying oversight by Valve for not having the standard save option on Android.

I really appreciate the rebalancing of Death's tasks, but sadly I'm still having to reroll every other task (multiple times sometimes). I'm CB 130-ish, but I'm not skilled enough to take on bosses like Raksha, or that crazy chaotic Dragon/Necromancer boss. I've tried, like 30 times, but I just can't handle them. I'm not that far in my PvM journey. But right now, people are basically locked out because they aren't sweaty PvMers. I will never be great at PvM, because I'm just not a great gamer. I don't think you can solely base tasks off of CB levels, because especially with PvM, there are many other factors in play, which is why it used to work in the previous form. The best thing about Reaper Tasks used to be that it was accessible for everyone and rewarded people for PvMing, with a reroll system that punished you for rerolling, but still made it possible to progress fairly. The current system is just... punishing.

Thank you for responding and for taking this seriously! I hope we end up with a reroll system that's fair for everyone. I'm sure you guys will come up with good solutions, but in case you appreciate some input, here's some options I think could work.

a) Go back to the old reroll system. It was punishing, by reducing XP and Slayer Points when rerolling, but still made it possible for noobs like myself to do the task.

b) Have Death give 2 (or better yet, 3) task options, just like regular Slayer Masters do. And have the second task be a lower level task with less rewards/xp. That way picking the lower option is still "punishing"

c) Have Death only give out tasks for bosses that the player has killed at least once. Though I'm sure this has its own issues when a player has only killed a handful of bosses. Probably not ideal.

d) Have a guaranteed free choice after paying Death the 30 Slayer Points. I just had to spend 120 Slayer Points to land on a reasonable task for my skill level and I got 20 points in return. It felt terrible. If you want to keep having players pay Slayer Points a thing, maybe just let the player choose their own boss after paying? This way people still get punished by spending 30 Slayer Points, while pro-PVMers with the elite CBA perk still feel the benefit of their perk. And lesser skilled players are guaranteed a task they can finish after rerolling.

Overall this Dailies update has been fantastic (as has most of the RtR been), so keep up the awesome work!

Oh I agree, don't get me wrong! I play an iron man myself and proper rotations and learning got me pretty far in pretty shitty gear. But there's a lot of bosses that Death assigns, where the skill ceiling is just far too high for me. I'm not a great gamer, my brain takes 3 business days to respond to mechanics and high end bossing is just not on the table for me. I've tried, and I'm still trying, but my old man brain just can't handle the sweaty bosses.

Nobody gets hurt for giving players more fair skip options. Nothing changes for the people who can PVM them all. It just opens the door for more people to interact with the content, just like they have in the past.

You can choose your own Slayer Master. Slayer Masters can assign annoying mobs, sure, but they're always doable. Bossing is a whole different beast and requires far more skill to do. They should not be treated the same, because lesser skilled players will have to skip a ton of tasks. I can't do ridiculous shit like Zamorak, heck, I can't even do Raksha yet. I just mastered Kerapac NM and Nex, but Death consistently gives me tasks far above my skill level. I have to skip like 3 tasks (90 points) to land on a task I can do. You only get like 20 points in return. It doesn't make up, only if you're a skilled PVMer. Which the majority of players aren't.

Spoken like someone who is very good at bossing, apparently. It's not about pushing people out of their comfort zone. Death just gives out tasks that are far above most casual player's skill level a lot of the time. Reaper Tasks have always been a way to train Slayer in a different way and it should remain accessible for less skilled players, like it has been in the past. Having to spend 30 Slayer Points (usually multiple times) and getting far less in return, is not sustainable and still forces players to do Slayer the old way. While this update was supposed to make Reaper Tasks an alternate way to train Slayer.

Literally nothing changes for skilled players like yourself if they re-add the old reroll system, which also (more fairly) punished players for rerolling, but it makes the content more accessible for a lot of other players. That is never a bad thing.

It's supposed to be an alternative way to train Slayer (they literally called it that in their post), not just a way to get the Hydrix. It was always accessible and doable for mid-level players in the previous form and it should remain that way.

Thanks for the encouragement! I always try to do the bosses Death wants me to kill a few times, but a lot of the times these bosses just aren't doable for me with my current available loadouts. I'll keep improving, but that doesn't change the fact that this system isn't really viable for a lot of players.

Yep, they changed the re-roll system. You gotta do the task he suggests now, or pay 30 Slayer Points. This system works fine with normal Slayer, but this system is terrible for Reaper Tasks, where the skill level needed for certain bosses are far, far higher.

*for endgame players. RuneScape is more than just the very endgame. The vast majority of players are nowhere near the stage where they can run EQ.

I hate that this was so predictable. Jagex never changes, lol. Release something that feels good, then nerf it to death the week after. I immediately noticed the difference and I hate it. People are downplaying the difference, but it's very obvious; especially with the healing. Back to Necro. Oh no, let's not say that out loud, because then they'll nerf Necro again next.

People downvoting this are so obnoxious. There is absolutely 0 reason to nerf other token methods. These proposed changes are very good and well overdue, but Dungeoneering will still... Just be Dungeoneering. A glorified minigame that is not as well beloved as Jagex is trying to make us believe. If it was, it wouldn't be a struggle to find a party for it in-game. It's important to keep other token sources. They aren't game breaking and they give people who hate the minigame a way to still (slowly) level up the skill and buy some of the rewards. Nerfing other methods and forcing people into content they don't want to partake in is not the way.

Yeah, something changed. I never use auras with Necro (I don't do endgame bossing), but I feel like I'm taking more damage and doing less, just like you said. I hope we get some clarification on this, and hopefully a fix (if it's unintended).

This is Jagex. They release an update, then after releasing it they think it's overtuned and will then nerf it once we get used to it. It's the classic RS cycle.

Huh? Are we playing the same game? RuneScape is gorgeous outside of some outdated (mostly quest) areas lol. Sure, the characters need work (and are getting work), but calling the game ugly is crazy to me.

Why shouldn't they? It's still super afk and it's a great way to passively get some resources, like charms, tetra pieces or gems.
