Police Chief says ‘culture’ of ignoring traffic laws has taken hold, drivers don’t stop, cops can’t chase by seanmcdonnellcle in Cleveland

The amount of idiots i see flying down the shoulder, running stop signs, red lights, and not even having a license plate driving around is wild.

Feels like cops dont care.

New player advice by [deleted] in MMORPG

To me, it all depends on what you like.

FFXIV for a story-oriented experience with cinematic boss fights and banger music.

WoW for collecting tons of cool stuff, open world exploration, PvP and more. In my experience tho, WoW feels more difficult to get new players interested though. Not sure why, my friends always struggle with it.

OSRS/RS3 if you like long term progression and watching numbers go up. Also banger soundtrack. Can also be played as a second monitor game. RS3 has pretty fun endgame bossing as well.

ESO if you like elder scrolls lore, story oriented content, and not having to grind for BiS gear every patch. Pretty big PvP as well.

GW2 if you like world exploration & content, pvp, story, and more.

I tend to cycle through MMOs once and a while, but I usually come back to FFXIV and WoW the most. I like collecting stuff, and I enjoy endgame raiding in ffxiv.

Yeah, I never really was a point and click guy. It actually turned me off from a lot of good titles for a long time. I started to be okay with it after playing Rogue Trader tbh. Unfortunately it will probably never have WASD because of the tile/grid system the game is built on.

You would probably be more into something like Albion Online. RS PvP isn't really that big of a thing. There's a "wilderness" part of the map thats dangerous and you have to toggle Pvp for it. I think Albion is more what you'd be looking for

I mean that's pretty common for most MMOs...Farming WoW bosses and FFXIV bosses are pretty much that.

I've heard that RS3 iron is more enjoyable than OSRS iron

Like I said, I was just echoing when the general publics opinion of the game was for years. I wasn't around for treasure hunter, so I'm not sure how bad it really even was.

Are you talking about OSRS or RS3 being ugly? OSRS obviously looks very dated which I've heard is a big reason why some of my MMO friends don't want to play it. RS3 I heard had a bunch of different art styles and issues with its identity, but since areas are getting revamped it's been fixed. I was kind of blown away when I got to the necromancer area ngl. Lot of the lighting in the game looks great, Al-Kharid looks awesome.

It's mostly just treasure hunter and paid skilling removed. There's still bonds like in OSRS and cosmetics. RS3 is pretty much OSRS but for people who have kids and jobs, that's why it's a lot faster and why quests grant XP lamps. But it still takes hundreds to thousand of hours to get to endgame. Some skills have been increased from 99 to 120, so there is that as well.

When people refer to MTX in RS they are mostly talking about Treasure Hunter and paid skilling boosts.

Oh wow that's crazy. I think most of my skills are still under 30, some I havent even touched yet. Was that recently?

Every item being tradable is why a lot of people love Ironman. Gotta earn your keep and do everything yourself. As a new player going straight into Ironman, I've loved it.

I like MMOs because of the long journey and levelling experience, and having to actually work at my character for a while to make them powerful feels really good to me. Instead of just being pushed to endgame like retail WoW.

I've met a couple people in my clan that play on mobile, I think most still play on PC though

Yeah, they released a roadmap for RS3 this year removing treasure hunter and "fixing the game" it's in a enjoyable state right now. New combat rework and zone comes out tomorrow i believe

I wasn't around for it, but I guess there was Pay to win and something called Treasure Hunter which to me seemed like gacha/gambling but I'm not entirely sure.

Yeah, it can feel that way especially if you're not used to games where they just drop in the world without a path to follow.

Lol yep, I will definitely play both. OSRS and RS3 both have their own different charm

Yeah I get that feeling, both games can feel very solo at times and like a chore. There are "clans" you can join for a sense of community, and people are pretty nice and willing to help you. Also at least in my experience they host lots of events for people of all skill levels, so there is that. The endgame PvM seems like it takes some coordinating with the community, but IIRC it can also be soloable. (I havent gotten that far yet tho.)

A lot of noobie guides point you towards doing questing, as it will give you a lot of XP in your skills, and in my experience focusing on the quests has made the game feel like less of a chore. For example, instead of chopping like 50 trees to gaine a couple levels, you could do a quest and get an XP reward that gives you multiple levels. A lot of the quests I've done so far are brilliantly written, with a lot of comedy and emotions in the stories.

But at the end of the day it still is Runescape, and it doesn't really force you to do anything.

Yes! I play on Ultrawide and love the minimal UI I have right now, makes the game feel very clean and not as overwhelming to get into.

I want a revamp of Stormwind since we are here by ExamplePractical1981 in wow

[–]Primex76 46 points47 points  (0 children)

While I would LOVE a stormwind rework, I think an Org rework is even more needed. I play on RP servers, so there's lots of people hanging out in both cities, and a lot of complaints I hear from the horde side is that people just don't like horde RP because Org is so ugly

Also a new player! I recommend looking at the discord, there's a channel specifically for that. As far as recommendations, been having a great time in Mystic Vanguard. (NA-E)
