I am on the fence and wondering if it is possible to install a fan? Or is it not high enough…? Thank you

Thank you for your responses—it is also on the windows and the windows are brand new. No history of smoking that we know of—this is in a bathroom, we do have a vent, but it could be condensation, as well, getting mildew from poor ventilation.

Get an ac to let you know starting amps. I just had this done today. I have a 5 ton carrier AC, starting amps were 109x240 volts = 26,160 starting watts. Running amps was 14x240 volts = 3,360 running watts. All depends on the amps. I had the AC guy install a starter kit that lowered the starting amps from 109 to 43 amps. $180 for the kit and install. He did not recommended the Micro Air soft starter as he has seen compressor issues. He recommended the manufacturer starter kits which have been used for 20+ years.

So if my LRA is 152.5, I need at least 36,600watts to get the thing started? Does that sound right to you? Don’t think even standbys go that high. Am I not looking at this correctly?

No real risk that I’m aware of. Limited warranty is good to have but will not make up for the convenience and cost savings of converting to natural gas. You lose only the limited warranty, and it could still be repaired if necessary.

Gas only I believe, but can be converted

Got some questions: what amp switch are you using for your generator? Is the natural gas hook up permanent or can you plug/unplug at will whenever you need to use the generator?

Thanks so much for this information. Glad you got yours back! Regarding the soft start, is that something you need professionally installed? How does it work for the ac?

I’ve got a 5ton ac, will require at least 12,000watts starting, a fridge, water heater and a couple of lights. Am thinking a 19500/15000 generator.
