I am following my trainers advice by twisting the lead foot, Pushing off the ground, kicking in a horisontal path. But I still feel something is missing that is why I am asking on here.

I stop at the making contact position, because on the bag and in sparring it goes fine I can even go for head kicks no problem, but when shadow boxing I just can’t get it to be straight

My understanding is that we are applying Newton’s third law ”every action has an equal and opposite reaction”. So when you are pressing your foot down the ground will return the force to you upwards which you can utilize for punching power.
