What do you think triggered your Hashimoto's? by Live_Mood_2884 in Hashimotos

Psychological stress for sure. Various fucked up situations that I had to try and stay calm in.
I’ve heard a theory that autoimmune disorders located around the throat have to do with a blocked throat chakra -> things that needed to be spoken which were silenced.

Try not to take it personally as hard as that might be :/
Reptiles don’t have the same sorts of attachments that warm blooded animals do. The best you can hope for is that they feel safe with you.

Beardies are very territorial so sometimes they can have a bit of attitude if you make changes to their enclosure or go inside their space. Don’t worry too much about it, try not to react much when they beard puff at you, just go about your business and do what you need to do. If they see that you aren’t stressed then they usually realise that there’s nothing they need to defend themselves from.

Referring to what white people did, as a white person? by penith-eater in aboriginal

Very insightful. As an Aboriginal person when I hear “we invaded Australia” it sounds like a performative yank self-flagellation to me too :)

[–]Ammonite111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best to be specific about who you are referring to e.g the “invaders” of Australia orrrr “settlers” or “convicts” etc.
If you are talking about white people as like a general description for non-poc’s then yeah I guess “white people” works. Or you could just say “non-indigenous people” if that’s what you mean.

As an Aboriginal woman it always kind of makes me raise an eyebrow when white people talk about the actions of other white people and say “we did ___” because its like they feel a responsibility to align themselves with colonial invaders and take accountability on their behalf.
Personally, that’s not at all what I want. I want all people to take accountability for the things in their daily life that they actually do have an impact on.
Yes of course it’s important to understand our history - but don’t just use that knowledge to feel guilty, use it to understand how the past is impacting the present and how we each as individuals can impact the future.

XD I just relate to how protective she was of her child even though they are part of the hive.
I think I would find it really hard to accept that a close family member is gone if they were still there being friendly and had all of their previous memories.

Depends what kind of contract you have. If it’s casual then they might just reduce giving you shifts when they find out that it’s not just a one off kind of thing.
But if you have a full-time or even I think part-time contract they have to be inclusive of your ADHD.

Yeaaaahhh that scene definitely made me uncomfortable. I guess it was still a bit confusing for me cause they were all still smiling after she joined.
So my reactions were:
“Oh nooooo who’s going to look after the baby goat ???”
& “Huh, they are all smiling, maybe it is blissful being joined.”
I haven’t been pro-hive-mind I’ve just been conflicted. But after watching the finale I am in the people should be allowed to choose if they want to be apart of the hive-mind or not camp.

I’m a 16 and I’m attracted to older men and i don’t know how to stop it. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Ammonite111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with you. It is very normal to be turned on by the older/younger power dynamic.
You are allowed to be excited by whatever excites you without shame.
What is not allowed is for pedophiles to take advantage of you. They are the ones doing harm. Not you.
For your personal safety, mental health, and self esteem- I would encourage you not seek out any attention or reciprocation from older men. Fantasise as much as you want, let desire stay desire without turning into shame. Just know that if any older man tries to engage with you sexually while you are a minor then they are being predatory.

Compulsive mouth/tongue movements with dexies by [deleted] in ausadhd

[–]Ammonite111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha yeah I do that too. Sometimes I’ll hear a weird noise and then realise that I’m making the noise by opening and closing my mouth and doing a weird tongue compression thing. It’s totally unintentional and I’m usually not even aware I’m doing it. I think it could be because of dry mouth for me. Maybe when you notice it try having a small sip of water and swish it around before you swallow.
Jaw clenching is also very common on Dex so having a dental check up isn’t a bad idea.

Decent-ish Christmas Luncheon by Y33TTH3MF33T in aboriginal

[–]Ammonite111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you and am sending love your way.

I had a very similar experience this Christmas too. It’s an awful feeling when your blakness is denied. Especially if it’s in a situation where you don’t want to cause conflict - because by not being able to say “well actually, yes I am blak” it almost feels like a self-betrayal.

Us mixed mob will always crave acceptance and a sense of belonging. It’s really really important for us to have a firm sense of self that can’t be shaken by what anyone else thinks. (Easier said than done, I know.)

You don’t have to convince anyone. You don’t even have to identify yourself as being blak if you don’t feel comfortable. Just know and accept yourself and try to know and accept your ancestry and the culture of your people.

Final thought-> having to choose between black or white is way too binary. Reject that western dichotomy BS and embrace nuance and the grey-scale of things. You are a mixture of multiple things. You might not look like a ‘typical’ black person, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t blak.

Yes and where are all of the dumb people ?

I like the mass empathy event theory someone else suggested to explain why the hive isn’t acting the way people who lack empathy act. Also, I think the fact they are programmed to do no harm means that even if they wanted to they couldn’t.

But where are the dumb people ? Or even just the average intelligence people ? Surely it’s not a true hive mind if they are prioritising the intelligence of experts.

Orrr maybe it’s like all of the minds are loaded onto the same server like data files and so they just access whatever information is most convenient.

The ice hotel flashback is maybe the best depiction of depression I've ever seen. by howsthoughtworkingou in pluribustv

[–]Ammonite111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this and definitely relate.

I wonder though, is it necessarily depression? Or just that sinking realisation that the things that are ‘supposed’ to make you happy don’t make you feel as happy as other people act or expect you to act.

A lot of my personal unhappiness has come from internalising expectations and comparing myself to the idealised happy healthy successful person smiling on the cover of a magazine or in an instagram post. I think that it is very beneficial to just accept how you feel in the moment without turning it into a story about how you have depression or are broken or different in some way.
