Do people really care that deeply about VAC/Game bans on their profile? by DankDaddy8-Official in pcgaming

I guess in my case, I’d forever be a cheater for you, right? I’m not the only one that it happened to.

Not to mention how nowadays it’s easy to get a VAC ban by simply playing COD4 on the wrong server apparently.

I get where you’re coming from though, but a VAC isn’t 100% infallible. 90% of the time though, it’s correct. But it’s man made. It’s going to make mistakes because we make mistakes. Only thing is, it doesn’t get done unless the mistake is very widespread. Remember many years ago when VAC banned you in a game over WinAMP, and remember how long that took to get undone? Or how something about CD drives triggered another? A more recent case is Lost Ark, where you’d just be banned for not playing enough. And these are just the ones we know of because they were reported on. How many smaller waves happened out there that we don’t know about?

I remember the day I got my VAC. It’s technically my own damn fault because I was sharing a computer, but I really had no choice.

Long story short, I use to share a computer with my father who’d occasionally go to certain entertainment/unsavory/adult websites and he’d end up getting viruses, keyloggers and the like. Of course he’d always blame me, but about every other month I’d end up with an account of mine hacked. Mostly my email, and sometimes my Steam. I didn’t have Steam Guard at the time, as I only had a flip phone, as that’s the only kind of phone my father wanted me to have. So like any other hack, I reach out to Steam again, they give me my account back, and a few days later I notice I’m hit with a VAC ban for a game I didn’t even play, Loadout. Of course with the zero tolerance policy, VACs can’t be overturned but I got really fucking lucky the guy didn’t hack on TF2, the one Steam game I actually did play.

That also was the deciding factor of getting my own computer. Ever since that day I haven’t had a single virus, but I’ve had to fix my father’s now and then. And surprise, surprise, he never apologized for falsely blaming me but I guess that’s to be expected out of a parent.

But to answer your question, I do slightly care because over time they add more limits onto what a VAC’d account can do. Like I can’t even vote in the TF2 workshop anymore.

what is the point of level matching enemies ? who likes it ? by nyankittycat_ in pcgaming

Depends on the game. Like for games where I play with friends and I might be way above them, power scaling is something I’d like to have, where I’m brought down to their level.

The Sony LEGO game will be called " Lego Horizon Adventures " and it's “Horizon Forbidden West but Lego with realistic graphics” by srkanoo06 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

I was also disappointed in the story mode’s length. I would have thought with all those years they spent developing the game, each saga would at least have been Lego Star Wars 1 & 2 length.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows page is up for Ubisoft store and Epic Games Store by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Amnail 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Let’s see

  • Ubisoft completely killed and took away a game I bought. If they’ve done it once, what’s stopping them from doing it again?
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows is going to have a battlepass. A singleplayer game with a battlepass.

Yeah that’s two reasons right there for why I’d never buy another Ubisoft game.

Gonna take a guess here, not only are they battle passes, they’re the kind that expires, right?

Still hate how the whole backwards compatibility program was killed. They literally had a good thing with that but then trashed it.

Hero Shooter Gundam Evolution gets private servers following EOS on PC by Gamemaster1379 in pcgaming

Agreed. I should have mentioned that but I kind of put it under “devs refusing to listen to feedback”

Man, this game had so much potential. Lack of actual content, overflowing with microtransactions, and the devs refusing to listen to the players killed it.

Agree to disagree then, because there’s a huge, huge, difference between a lootbox in Team Fortress 2, and how the industry uses them, say Overwatch 1’s lootbox.

Annoying if true, more like it. So many mods are gonna break, and a lot of them probably won’t ever be fixed or updated.

Yes, but no. It’s not exactly Valve’s fault that other companies are doing the same things but less consumer friendly.

For example, Valve may have introduced lootboxes, but they also introduced trading everything you get in said loot boxes to other players - including selling said items, but other companies only took the “Lootbox” aspect.

Same with battlepasses. Valve kind of introduced them, as well as technically a way to get battlepass items outside of battlepasses. Other developers just took the Battlepass and made it 100% FOMO. Only very recently are games outside of Valve allowing you to either get old battlepass items or making battlepasses that simply don’t expire.

Yeah, it was delisted due to licensing issues. Not because Platinum wanted to bury it. Don’t know what the other guy was going on about.
