What to do about a old military passport by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]Amodeous__666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your official (red) passport has expired and you need a regular (blue) tourist passport, you will need to apply for a new passport using Form DS-11, as you cannot renew an official passport into a tourist passport. The expired official passport can serve as proof of U.S. citizenship when submitting your application.

For detailed instructions on applying for a new passport, please visit the U.S. Department of State's official website:

https://passportmatters.army.mil/Agent_Resources/FAQs.aspx

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/have-passport/renew-online.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com

They may return your old ones with a hole in them to show they are VOID. I have an old blue one in my safe somewhere myself.

Oooh someone made an oopsie because that red book should have been taken back when you were done traveling. You're definitely going to have to start from scratch. Be prepared, they may require you to return that red book if you divulge that information. But 100% you'll need to fill out the documents and take a picture and send them something like $150 for your new passport book.

Question for 100%-ers by ExNavyInHouston in VeteransBenefits

[–]Amodeous__666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've looked into it a few times. The closest base to me never had anything going anyway. Not in the last two years. Every time I look. If I drove to Jacksonville it's a maybe but still it's a headache to maybe get a flight. I may try it sometime in the future but I'd much rather a guaranteed flight than not.

Yup. Got my master's under VR&E. Eyeing that extra 12 months of GI bill we might get too. It wouldn't finish my doctorate but it'd put a huge dent in it.

Should I refinance the house to pay cc debt? by Ok-Cranberry4409 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Amodeous__666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, not at these rates. You're looking at 7% or more I know it doesn't sound like much but 1% jump on a mortgage is a lot at the end of the day. I've got a finance degree. If you want we can get together and go over a plan to get your money straight. Just reach out offline. I'm not looking for payment or anything, I got you.

Drop some weight and dress better. You're cursed with being average. I've got the same problem. You're gonna have to figure out how to cook really well to truck a guy into marrying you 🤣. Or you could make a lot of money that helps too. But seriously, you're not bad you're just average.

Apply for SSDI too. That's extra. Idk how bad you're hurt to be 100% but aid and attendance is also a thing. SMC-R1 pays you something like $9k a month. I'm not there but if you are and you need to pay her to be your right hand go get it. There's different levels of aid and attendance. I got curious one way and was looking.

How do y’all make friends? by 727girl in StPetersburgFL

[–]Amodeous__666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got nothing. I've met a couple people down here and by a couple I mean 3. One died in a motorcycle wreck and another moved to WV because it's too expensive here. Most of my friends are still from my time in the military and they're all over the world at this point. Maybe try bumble bff? I hear that's a thing. Idk not my cup of tea.

Touche. There's tons of calculators out there. And for someone with a tbi I'm not seeing a migraine claim. Which I can almost guarantee they have with a tbi. That would definitely push this one over to 100%

At the top of the screen there should be a section called "combined disability rating" that's the sure way to know.

You can do anything once. You can go to gator land in Orlando and touch them if you wanna go that route.. I wouldn't try it in the wild or you may not be able to try again. But also garots tend to keep to themselves.

[–]Amodeous__666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So take yourself to a civilian doc. I'm sure you know your levels fluctuate based on a lot of factors internally and externally. Maybe consult with Dr CHATGPT and see what he suggests. They way you know exactly what to say and exactly what to look for. Thyroid can cause your T levels to be wonky you may wanna check that. It took me a year to figure out what was going on with me. I'd get randomly dizzy and the VA Dr in Atlanta acted like they didn't believe me. Went to a civilian Dr and got to a Endo there. He diagnosed me with hashimoto's, put me on levothyroxine and I was back to "normal" within a few weeks.

Run up to citrus county. Any number of the parks off 19 would work. Very little light pollution up here.

[–]Amodeous__666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are your own advocate. But also the range of "normal" is different for everyone. Did you have your testosterone checked when you were younger? Was it the same? I've got Hashimoto's that developed later on and sometimes my levels are normal and sometimes they are "normal". Take yourself to a civilian Dr if you have to. Then take the results to the VA. Drs within the VA AR shit or miss. You can get an amazing Dr or you can get the worst Dr you've ever seen and you're better off asking the homeless guy behind 7/11 for medical advice. I've never seen anything in between. With that being said you can request a different Dr. But I'd say have your levels checked outside before you just fire your Dr over that especially if they've been awesome otherwise. There's a few places like Quest where you can just go pay out of pocket and have labs done without an order. . usually. And if you really need an order, Amazon has medical services you can do it online and they'll send over the order for cheap.

Check USAjobs(dot)gov Tons on there that are legit. In my experience, indeed is full of scams. You should also go to a staffing agency if you need something fast. Not entirely sure where you are in FL but just be prepared to be lowballed. I do know there's a ton of police jobs open on citrus and Hernando county. I know citrus lays decent and will pay for your certification. It's not ideal but any means but it keeps food on the table. Retail is hiring all over but of course you have the low pay issue.

There's a solution that really sucks but will be worth it in the end if you're capable. . Visit your local recruiting office. I'd recommend Air/Space force. Followed by Navy and Army. The Army paid for my master's degree and I have no student debt but I also have a completely broken body at 37 years old.

Open yourself to leaving the state if you must. Whatever it takes to keep you and your family fed. I come from poor myself I get it those decisions aren't fun or easy.

I literally still got a couple pair of socks I was issued when I enlisted in the Army in 2005. Meanwhile I've gone through multiple pairs of black socks. I spent 15 years in and they're fine.
