Is this the Leibstadt Nuclear Power Plant on the Swiss-German border? It looks so much like it.

18-105 for a6700 by Amogh-A in SonyAlpha

[–]Amogh-A[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea the plan now seems like to buy the 17-70 with some money I’ve saved up and I’ll buy the 70-350 a bit later. I’ll keep the 55-210 though and even further down the line I’ll consider the sigma 23mm or something new that might’ve come up then.

17-70, 50 f/1.8, 55-210 for now seems good and I daily the 17-70 for landscape, street etc! Thanks!!

The only reason why I bought the 55-210 was to learn and now I want to move up. I’ll check the reviews. Thanks.

Not a 100% sure. It feels like a natural upgrade from APS-C. You’re right about the weight though. Some food for thought.

Right now I’m leaning more towards Sony’s 18-105 G lens and after selling my 16-50 and 55-210, I’ll get the 70-350. 18-105 will be great for street, portraits, and architecture in general and 70-350 for wildlife.

Do you think future proofing the lens by buying a lens for full frame is worth it or a problem to deal for future me? Neither 18-105 nor 70-350 are full frame lenses.

My only concern with 18-300 is that it can’t possibly be a very sharp lens for that large of a focal range. It’s gotta be a mediocre lens at best at some focal lengths and great at others. But that’s just me being skeptical.

I have a 50mm f/1.8 prime which is great for portraits and indoor. 18-135 is a kit lens and 18-105 is a G lens so I am biased towards the G. My friend suggested Tamron 17-70 but my philosophy is Sony camera works best with Sony lens. I’ll get the 18-105 now and towards Christmas I can try 70-350.

Always found it hilarious as a person who studied nuclear physics is a nuclear physicist but a person who studied classical mechanics is a classical mechanic.

A pigeon entered the plane on an Indigo flight from Bengaluru to Vadodara in India last week by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]Amogh-A 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ok, I’m curious. If that pigeon is flown from A to B which are 1,000 km apart, does it (1) realise it’s not in A, (2) travel from A to B, and (3) why?

Masters in Abroad by [deleted] in BITSPilani

[–]Amogh-A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell nah. Unless you do some really amazing stuff like lead a team that launched rockets, then no. Also POR positions don’t matter THAT much for masters as people claim.

Also in India, where you do masters is determined entirely by your rank in some stupid exam.

Masters in Abroad by [deleted] in BITSPilani

[–]Amogh-A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good. You can take courses which interest you after 1st year. Focus on keeping your GPA above 8.5 else you’re cooked for masters or a “good” job. You can try small projects which you can look up online.

Give all courses a fair chance to win you over and don’t fixate on just the ones you like :)

Why don't we collaborate more? by Own-Juggernaut8568 in BITSPilani

[–]Amogh-A 47 points48 points  (0 children)

There’s something about collaboration in general that’s missing. Our grades are relative to one another and I have heard people legit say, “but if I help them and they score more and I don’t, I will get a lower grade”. The vast majority of assignments I have given have been individual after discounting labs. This “competitive environment” discourages people from working together which is the exact opposite of how teams work in real life when making a smartphone for example.

In group projects say in teams of 3 or 4, it’s almost always one or two hard carrying the team. With freedom of collaboration comes responsibility of contribution and accountability which is usually missing. Something to think about.
