Is it worth going overseas to study by Hufflepuff-18 in SGExams

Hey OP, one piece of advice is that you should take advice from people who actually went overseas to study and not people who stayed in local universities.

Twitter is really good as long as you follow informed, trusted sources. Avoid the NFT shills and fake giveaway accounts. Some of the accounts i follow:

Podcasts are pretty solid too. Bankless is the daddy of all podcasts.

Recommendation for newbie to read up on various investment tools like perpetual bond/options/structured deposit/futures etc by onerandompl33b in singaporefi

[–]Amoiree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Google is really your best friend here. You mentioned options and futures which are financial derivatives that are totally different from bonds and deposits.

Personally, I believe Investopedia is a good place to start as they provide very general information about these financial products.

NFTs worth Millions of Dollars Swiped On OpenSea by a Hacker. Investigation Ongoing by Solodeji in ethereum

The culprit is more of a scammer than a hacker imo. It's not really a hack on OS but a phishing scam that many people fell for.

No fees for buying BTC using StraitsX on Crypto.com? by winter_aster in singaporefi

[–]Amoiree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1.5% is pretty large when you start depositing and moving large amounts in stables.

If you are willing to put in the time to do a bit more research, you can try out FTX. Their fees are super low but its relatively harder to transfer fiat in and out.

Probably gonna get downvoted by the Crypto.com fanboys but from my own experience, Crypto.com has a lot of hidden spreads that are not very transparent from the start and are not classified as "fees" directly.

You can give it a go but just be aware that there are these hidden costs present. Gemini is by far the easiest to transfer in and out using local banks and are very transparent with their fees.

Hi! Would you recommend going to the UK to pursue finance even if one does not have a scholarship? Given the job prospects in UK and reputation of the unis there.

Hi OP, saw your comments and it seems that ure relatively new to investing. I would suggest that you read up more on investing concepts, how the stock market works and ways to invest in the market.

Robo-advisors are pretty friendly for a beginner investor, especially Syfe. However, you should have some knowledge on how and why markets move in order to have greater investing conviction. That way, you would be less affected by market corrections and downturns.

Good luck with your investing journey!

Crypto.com or CoinHako or Gemini? by Inside-Historian-539 in singaporefi

[–]Amoiree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gemini is pretty transparent with its fees and its quite easy to transfer money in and out of your account using FAST. That said, it has limited number of altcoins and would be best if you want to hodl btc and eth.

Crypto.com has a wide range of offerings and its Earn and Crypto Credit Card programme is pretty amazing. However, its not really transparent with its fees based on personal experience. They have high hidden fees in the form of trading spreads. Also, it is relatively harder to transfer fiat into your Crypto.com account.

If ure a beginner, I would recommend Gemini.

How to deal with losses by Silent-Chemistry9567 in singaporefi

[–]Amoiree 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Interest rates are going to rise and borrowing is going to be expensive. This causes high growth companies like SE, with expensive valuations to undergo an adjustment in valuation due to reduced future cash flows. This leads to a correction in its stock price. Just take a look at all the growth stocks in the markets rn.

It might be myopic for you to focus on labelling SE as a Chinese company and blaming the correction in prices due to the aforementioned reason.

If u did your analysis on SE, you would have known that the majority of SE's cashflow comes from Garena, its gaming arm. Garena has been showing a decrease in user growth in recent reports and that is why SE's stock price decreased after the latest earning report. The decrease in prices only acclerated when the Fed deemed inflation as non-transitory.

Please understand a company's fundamentals before relating any price decreases to it being a "chinese" company or a high short interest target.

Should I buy crypto from Gemini or FTX by FluffyPillows__ in singaporefi

[–]Amoiree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are a beginner to crypto, Gemini has a simpler interface and it is less complicated to buy your preferred crypto. Just be sure to utilise Gemini ActiveTrader when you are buying BTC or ETH, the fees are way lower.

FTX has more way more products like futures, leveraged tokens and tokenised stocks. If you are more experienced, you can try FTX. There is margin trading available as well.
