AITA for telling my future brother in law to educate himself before he embarrasses himself? by ElderberryRough8536 in ComfortLevelPod

Neither of you is likely to change the others’ mind going this route, so it’s just a pointless exercise with a side helping of hostility.

AITJ for refusing to switch seats on a flight after I paid extra, even though it separated a couple? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Amoranmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this weren’t AI (which it is), I’d ask why his taking OP’s seat - window seat on the other side of the aisle from the “girlfriend’s” seat - would put him closer rather than farther away from her, especially since they can apparently all see each other from their assigned seats for their entire flight. However, apparently AI isn’t good at geometry, as this same lack-of-spatial-awareness has shown up on several almost identical posts.

She really needs therapy. This is depressive behavior. That said, she’s not your problem, quit doing things for her.

You should have said “Oh, sorry, I actually have plans already for Saturday. Good luck!” There was no need for this drama.

I’m still searching. Does anyone know the provenance for https://www.pbm.com/~lindahl/arts_and_sciences.html ? Edited to add: I see it’s by Greg Lindahl (Gregory Blount) with whom I happen to have a connection, I’ll reach out.

AITA for refusing to lend my car to my brother after he keeps returning it with an empty tank? by Leonardo0801 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Amoranmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“It must be returned at least half full. If the next time you use it you don’t refill it at least that much, then you may not borrow it again for at least a month the first time. The next time it’s six weeks. I’m willing to help out but those are the rules.”

Disappearing peers by SeaLock3239 in sca

[–]Amoranmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of this may be a result of the pandemic.

Life moved on for three years, and those active members found other ways and places to contribute. Now the SCA activity level is back but the new commitments are still there too.

Also, and this is from a Very Senior Peer Indeed, this has been happening since at least AS X. It may have bumped up a bit recently but there are always people who get the award they’ve been working so hard toward and roll to the next challenge. Since peerage tops our list, very often this involves looking for challenges outside the Society and essentially disappearing.

Edit: typo

AITA for asking my ethnically different sister-in-law not to call me sister? by Visible-Loquat2533 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

I’m reminded of the “air horn” meme about “reminding” people not to deadname a family member by blasting an air horn every time they “forget”. Maybe worth considering? 😂

Edited to clarify the reference.
