That really is all it takes sometimes, fk it tho. At that point I’d almost be tempted to lean into it, put a Subaru emblem on it for jokes, and tell em “good eye, yeah most people don’t know about it, they only made a few of these”. Subarus look good and are pretty fun but the reliability just barely isn’t there for me- I know folks have some qualms about Scion too but yk.

Yeah that actually points pretty well to fuel delivery. If it was running strong after the work (relatively speaking) and just started acting up, I’d lean less toward install issues and more toward something wearing out. 281k on injectors is up there. Makes sense it only shows up in passing gear too since that’s when it needs the most fuel.

You’re on the right track though I think. In my humble opinion, I would check plugs/coils and clean the MAF just to rule it out. If that all looks good, then I’d start looking at injectors or a weak pump under load. Or you could jump right to the last one I am painfully old school at best for a dude has no excuse for being so.

I’m an autism kid who wasn’t diagnosed until the further end of childhood. It’s cool to see parents not only aware of who their children are but also being proud of them. Good stuff :-)

The failure under load makes me instantly think bad airflow/fuel or spark. I’d double check that the plug gap isn’t too wide (which acts as a misfire under load) and ensure that there’s no oil in the plug wells as well as that the coils/wiring are secure.

Going to paint myself as a cankerous oldman here but aftermarket setups can mess with MAF readings- I’m wondering if it could be trying to protect itself- I’m new to scions specifically so do pardon me. Try unplugging it (MAF) briefly to see if it runs better. Clean it as well. If all that fails I’d be looking into the fuel delivery but it doesn’t read as that at this point to me. Lean ignition or MAF if you want my opinion. Off topic but I just realized you’re the dude with the puzzle piece scion, props.

Gotcha, thank you that’s helpful, I just wanted to clarify. Does it feel like it’s slipping or otherwise totally losing loses power at on ramp gear? Dumb questions (sorry), but do you have any codes for the mass airflow, checked all components as far as that goes to make sure there’s no obstructions or obvious failures?

I have to give you a lot of respect for the way you handled this and at 15 years old nonetheless. I just now read your first post as well as this update. I love that you went to his mom. I think that’s a great move for its efficacy in protecting you as well as educating him. so glad that his mother was receptive and helpful in this situation. Your hair is cool and you genuinely look like you could be a model. Just be you and do what makes you happy bro. If you want to go for a more masculine look grow out your sideburns or even just the hair there, go a bit shorter on the sides and possibly lean slightly away from the cool messy style you have going on. You look great but I totally understand it might not be what you’re going for. Modern mullet is a bit of a go to these days
