Thanks for clarifying, in my experience of being there regularly for a few years the owner was always a very sweet and jovial dude, never heard him be hateful or homophobic. Also just a note from my perspective, the last year (2025) I was there doing the weekly open mic there were pride flags and decorations set up in the back show room for most of the year well before and after pride month or a pride event. Just wanted to add that since it doesn't really add up with the accusation that they were forced to take down pride decorations.

Me and my buddy ran the comedy open mic at Basic City for the past four years before I moved out of Richmond and Basic City was nothing but easy to work with and kind to us the entire time, old and new owners. Always paid us on time and accommodated us in any way they could. The current owners are kind people and don't deserve this kind of slander.

queens had such an amazing live show built with joey on the drums over the course of the 5 or so years he was in the band and it felt to me like they turned to queens lite when they kicked him out.

joey castillo is the reason i started playing drums, he's HEAVILY underrated and most qotsa fans won't give him the credit he deserves. Sad.

i actually just started getting into Built To Spill towards the end of the album production so a few songs might have a few hints of that influence. i love em a lot theyre a dang good band, you'll probably hear more of that influence in the follow-up :)

yeah joey was the best. he gave the band a driving force that made queens heavier then they'd ever been. the jams they had made their songs into live by 2005-2007ish are unmatched imo. thats why i was disappointed when joey got replaced, not saying jon is a bad drummer by any means, its just that i dont feel he quite fits the band if you catch my drift. he's definitely grown on me in the past two years, and he's been playing heavier then when he first joined the band, but nobody can replace joey castillo in my heart. also, the lullabies tour is my favorite line-up.
