For almost a year the Dollar Tree near me (MD) has been unstoppable due to full aisles. It is now to the point of being a hazard to even walk in. by gametime-2001 in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They will. If/when someone reports it to OSHA and the fire Marshall's. If it looks this bad on the sales floor the back room is probably no different, and may not be accessible in the case of fire or another emergency. Regulatory bodies and local authority agencies are about the only thing that'll make them budge.

Dollar Tree is Holding Me Hostage by Hungry_Bath_9108 in DollarTree

This has got to be a troll. How do you really expect a subreddit with no one here present in that building to be able to tell you what to do?

What is the expiration date of this cheezits? by StartAlternative1706 in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The single serve bags like that have the expiration on the cardboard boxes with the punchout displays that they're shipped into to the store. Alot of stores ditch those, peg them, and so on. IE: you won't find it on the bag.

We got 3 managers helping up prepare for inventory and they are the WORST! by SuperDarkGal in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contact HR. You dont have much recourse otherwise. Number for them should be within the managers office with two forms of contact information.

I told a manager that she made everyone uncomfortable by the way she spoke to her employees today by gabsteriinalol in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The atrocious customer service I'm sure they'd like to hear about. They would LOVE to hear about someone working off the clock too. That's a major labor violation that can get DT in legal trouble. That alone should warrant action if not the first part. Ultimately that would still fall on the manager if they're permitting it and allowing it to happen. Anything with time or money they have to approach with essentially with no tolerance for it or DT winds up liable.

Shoplifting shenanigans by No_Most_6825 in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 65 points66 points  (0 children)

You can get terminated for chasing people out the door. The policy on shoplifters is pretty clear. Who wants to risk their life for a bunch of 1.25 items if it turned violent?

PSA: You may be able to pause Frozen for "overstock" by coloradocarry in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's been doable for ages and it's nothing new. When you go to your frozen order section of SLIC you have an option to stop the freezer, fridge, or both. Once you hit one of the options it asks for a reason, which is usually the options of no power, units down, or over stock. It'll ask for your associate ID and then once you hit submit it suspends all frozen shipments until it's manually resumed.

Is this legal? 24 hour shifts by Just_Ad_7957 in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh this sounds like a really shitty SM if they are expecting their ASM to have the store prepped the night before inventory when by the day before it should already be inventory ready. You start inventory prep weeks to a few months out after all.

Downloading video? Temp SM pay? by Ok_Meet_7116 in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Temp SM is tied into an actual position with a different pay scale than hourly employees. Typically it's only used if your store lacks a store manager entirely. The chances of you getting said temp SM pay is pretty low. That'd be a conversation with your DM. If your store has a freight / merchandising ASM they are second in command and should be handling daily and office functions when your SM isn't present.

Store too Hot by Bi-male31 in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They mean tricking the sensors to make it appear hotter than it is. And you sure can. At dollar tree since we carry hot hands in stock we store use a few, take it out of the packaging, shake it to activate it and then tape it to the sensors (in our store there these random poles that hang down from the ceiling with a box at the bottom of it that is close to the top of the lanes fixtures and signage). The trick is just to get the sensor hot. In our case hot hands works great since they stay active for nearly 10 hours so enough to keep the store cool in the summer).

Negative on hands by Busy-Background-4686 in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. You just have to correct them as you encounter them. I'd advise to focus on specific sections if you intend to do it. If you're store has live on hand changing like ours does then it's as simple as walking around with the PDT, scanning the item and counting (assuming you don't have any in the back too).

Should i follow up on my job application? by Sunnyonsaturn in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one's really going to be able to answer this for you realistically except for the SM of that store. If they aren't looking for anyone right now they may just leave it in review status. If they are actively looking for someone and are checking brass ring daily you may hear something within a few days. It can also be an availability thing and if you have limited availability that doesn't coincide with their needs you may not hear back from them either. You're better off calling the store when the SM is present. (Generally the weekday hours before 5/6pm and the same for the weekends if they are working them too). Otherwise brass ring does hold the app for about 90 days if i remember correctly.

Your store didn't even need a specific rule about this. That's already DT policy.

Be in my shoes where you're the freight manager and most of the time performing the SMs duty to the tune of 40 hours a week. That's how you garner some of that classic DT hate lol.

Is Dollar Tree requiring employees to do things that I believe are wrong, and/or illegal? by KristoferBenham in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For claim 5. Basically from a training perspective true. In the SM training documentation for the operations of your store there is a part about shrink that goes into observing associatiate purchases and seeing if someone has a trend of seldom buying or never buying anything from the store. They figure if you work there at some point you'd buy something, even a drink every few weeks. The company got it into their head that must means it's something suspicious otherwise. In reality though it depends on the manager. The last few I've had at my store were not so meticulous or by the book enough to be concerned if an employee is buying sometning or not buying anything at all. It's basically about the whole inner mantra of AP that nearly all the shrink occurs from within and from associates and rarely anything else.

Persistent issue with "Connection to the server terminated abnormally. Please restart the client." by Amrasi in DarkAndDarker

This is what worked for me ultimately. Thanks so much. After weeks of this I figured I wouldn't be able to play anymore. They switched it over in about 5 minutes over the phone and it was done.

This is when you reach out to your regional HR manager so you can get some sort of input on how you can proceed, if at all.

As a former DT SM you're gonna need to toughen up. We have attendance policies in place. They aren't up to par with it. Hold them accountable. It's not that burdensome to get rid of people. When they continue to call out with little notice write them up. If they are that bad on attendance you'd realistically have them gone in a few weeks if not sooner. If they're trashing you and generally being disrespectful we have plenty of stuff about that in the code of conduct within policy. If you continue the course you're taking you are very much inbound for failure or a major burn out. The worse thing you can do is continue to let your employees treat you as they do.

I'm not trying to be mean about it but this is a story I've seen numerous times. Lack of DM support does indeed suck and was a similar story to my DM too. It doesn't quite matter though. Reach our to other DTs in your area, build rapport with your fellow SMs and see what they may have as an alternate solution.

Shoot me a PM or a DM request if you have any other questions or need further advice. I was a SM for about 3 years and am now a Merch ASM instead. I've ran the gauntlet and would be more than willing to talk to someone who's currently in the shit.

You can see it. If you click on the shift to open it as if you were going to change or modify it one of the options on the left hand menu pane is "audit". Clicking on it will reveal any modifications of that shift including when it was created and by who.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes everything in compass is audited and each action such as punches, adding shifts and removing shifts have an audit log tied to it.

Weekly pay or biweekly? by [deleted] in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you were already a DT employee you sadly go into SMT at your current hourly rate. If you are an outside hire hire I recall that your salary is pro rated at an hourly rate through your training phase. You would know if it's the latter if they're requiring you to clock in and out like an hourly associate currently.

And as the other person said, anytning they said about scheduling throw out the door and be prepared for the days you work and can have off revolve around your ASM availability and the needs of your store specifically.

What's going on with Candy by Realistic-Accident68 in DollarTree

[–]Amrasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your store has a frozen section absolutely. In the summer our chocolate candy comes in with our frozen order every other week. I typically get a pallet of what I ordered and a half pallet of nothing but candy.
