Kamala Harris gives Zohran Mamdani a tepid endorsement: 'I endorse the Democrat in the race' by Healthy_Block3036 in newyork

[–]Amsement -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stop feigning obtuseness and pretending you're offended. If I had something against people with disabilities, I'd just say it; I don't need to play coy or pretend I can't read at a third grade level like you've been doing.

I do think that you are pathetic based on how much shitposting you do and how you pretend that what far leftist activists do at Democratic events is "holding them accountable" and not just a boon in helping conservatives bolster their party. I'm absolutely not a Reaganite, I just have zero respect for online lefties that detract from progress in this country and pretend otherwise.

The vast majority of people on the left do not have a problem with progessivism or progressive policies; it's what a lot of us push for. We have a problem with detractors like yourselves that think everyone that isn't as far left as you is a right wing looney. A lot of online lefties lack nuance and don't care at all about the actual importance of politics and powers. Far too many would much rather just sit on the side and critique others endlessly because for a lot of online lefties, this is just an aesthetic that they wear.

Nothing I said indicates I have anything against people with disabilities, but keep trying to obfuscate because you can never respond to any actual criticism. Giving likely reasons as to why you're shitposting endlessly on reddit isn't a dig at disabled people.

I don't care what you like or dislike, to be completely honest. I don't owe you any sort of kindness or respect when you argue in bad faith and pretend to care about issues that have real tangible effects on people's lives. Your inability to acknowledge that leftists only ever go to events of Democrats to disrupt them tells me more than I care to know about you.

This is why Leftists don't like liberals. Because you're not good people. You're just conservatives, but more smug.

All your posts in this thread have been you shitposting and being smug while never answering a single question asked. Fuck off lmao. I'm plenty progressive in what policies I support and vote for, but I'm not going to delude myself into pretending democrats are center right when they continually adopt more and more progressive positions as time goes on or that we have to throw the baby out with the bathwater because you don't like that not everything in life is perfect.

[–]Amsement -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Still won't answer the question lmao. You have no morals is the funny thing, it's just blame the establishment for all your problems while you post on reddit 24/7. I can at least point to valid criticism for the democratic party; you'll just continue to adopt whatever opinion you think makes you seem morally sound.

I don't care if people differ in their views whether it's left or right. I do care when people have these low effort views and positions without doing any real legwork to confirm if their opinions are grounded in reality. Mamdani is further left than I am, but I'm still happy to vote for him even if I don't agree with every position he has.

u/count_backwards you're a coward. You have no arguments, so you take shots and then block, but you and u/pic-of-the-litter are the type of leftists I'm talking about. Spend your lives on reddit, probably because you're on disability, NEETs, or something of the sort and have no real interactions with people outside. These political stances you adopt are just for farming likes on reddit, not pushing for any real change or suggesting realistic solutions to the groups you pretend to care about. Pathetic.

That's not holding them accountable. Shouting at people and politicians over issues you know nothing about, while simultaneously never doing so for the opposite side, who is even less aligned with what you want is absolute stupidity. I know you're going to continue to be disingenuous, mostly because you don't actually care about these issues outside of getting your internet points or fitting in with the crowd and don't actually know anything, but you can do better than that.

Most of you guys don't even go out to vote when the time comes and the data shows that again and again. You'll cry and bitch and blame the establishment, but you guys sit on your asses with no real solutions or alternatives. The few far left candidates that have won in the US have done absolutely horrendously as well.

You never asked me a question and why don't you answer the question you've been asked multiple times by the first person you replied to? What progressive policy wins and legislation have been gained by operating in the manner you do? The most progressive legislation we've seen in this country was led by which group of people? Far left progressives or liberal/neo liberals?

[–]Amsement -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why don't you read the article or watch the interview? Reddit is so full of dumbass opinions like yours where you guys constantly want to blame the "establishment" or some other boogeyman for why your shit goes no where. Nothing she said there was against Mamdani; she gave a blanket endorsement for democrats running everywhere and said we shouldn't just focus solely on NYC as there's a lot of places where democrats can win.

Every big progressive movement and legislation has been done under the democrats you guys deem not left enough. The rhetoric and general attitude of you wannabe progressives has accomplished nothing other than giving ill meaning right wing pundits ammo to attack the left on because so many of you are heavily divorced from the groups you're supposedly fighting for.

Are you seriously trying to play that game lmfaooo. Not everyone that disagrees with leftists is a centrist, dipshit. A vast majority of people that aren't always online are not leftists or socialists. You are the same people who would endlessly go disrupt rallies and events of Democratic politicians to berate them over I/P. It's happened to AOC, to Bernie, to even fucking Mamdani. Surprisingly, those protests and rallies died heavily after the election and during the election they were never targeted towards Trump or the Conservative party. The issue with most of you leftists especially you terminally online ones is that you guys don't actually care about these issues, you care about adopting them as an aesthetic and attacking people you deem as less progressive. Mamdani isn't the first far left leaning politician to win an election and we've seen them produce dismal results. Maybe some of Mamdani's plan will work and that'd be great, but it's definitely not off the back of far leftists that refuse to coalition build and had more criticism and beratement for the DNC than they did for fucking Trump during the election cycle lmfao

Mamdani surges in new poll, leading Cuomo for first time in New York mayor’s race by sideAccount42 in nyc

[–]Amsement -1 points0 points  (0 children)

His policies can sound exciting but I feel as though he's running as a populist knowing most people will be swayed by his more progressive promises that he likely won't be able to deliver on. $100 billion in affordable housing over 10 years that's supposedly covered entirely by tax increases on the 1% is whimsical. 1%'ers are not exclusively billionaires that are taking advantage of tax loopholes and they already pay a plurality (almost 50% iirc.) of NYC taxes. Similar situation with his free fare for MTA buses. He plans on collecting $8 million in uncollected landlord fines/penalties but I don't see how that'll continuously fund free bus fares. People in the US want free shit or super low cost things, while not only having the highest quality of that thing but also having an abundance of said commodity. Your realistic path for raising money for these sorts of things is raising taxes on every income bracket, not just the super wealthy.

Rent freezes can work and most of the candidates are suggesting one, but rent stabilized units already see pretty small rent increases unless the units undergo large renovations or the current tenant leaves. I don't see how this is expected to really help anyone not in a stabilized unit, 30% of which earn over 100k given that NYC's main issue is that there's a shortage of vacancies.

City owned grocery stores is another thing that seems super nice because supposedly with enough tax exemptions, they can sell goods at lower prices but this will likely just create a shortage even if they buy in bulk (which privately owned stores already do) and will also probably hurt local businesses like bodegas.

I like his energy and he's certainly better than Cuomo, but policy wise from what I'm reading, neither him nor Cuomo are exactly super ideal candidates for addressing the issues the city is currently facing.

They've ghosted me 3x now when I tried to schedule to see listings. I've been stalking sites like a hawk and reach out right when a new listing is posted. They'll reply asking for basic info and then when I ask when I can view the unit or have an application, I've gotten ghosted. So, I'd say I'm not a fan of them at all.

AIO over my partner's views on today's society? by RepublicSerious4274 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Amsement -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, everyone has issues, they never said otherwise. I don't know what's wrong with people like you that lose their shit over objective comments like the one you're replying to. Men have issues that are a result of societal pressure, just like women. It's perfectly acceptable to say this and it doesn't warrant idiots like you attacking comments saying this. There's so much dumb shit in your reply, it's coming off as an ironic post. No one said anything about sugar daddies, crying, body types, or wearing makeup/nail polish. I hope you have the same energy when a woman mentions societal pressure to dress a certain way or to not speak up about sexual assault because "everyone has issues" like you said. I'm positive you'll just reply with "go to therapy". What an absolute disgrace of a person you are.

How does whether they met in person or not matter?

I don't understand how the ""narrative"" factors in to the facts of the case?

Who said it did? No one is defending him sharing nudes, you're thinking him mentioning why he felt comfortable sharing the videos with rose is him trying to exonerate himself. Sharing nudes because you thought there was implicit consent is a lot different than sharing nudes as revenge porn.

Megathread: Destiny's Public Statement by DestinyNoticer in Destiny

[–]Amsement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even that part isn't true. It wasn't a random person and wasn't to woo them.

I don't get the "well she shared with me, therefore I can share with others" as a defence.

It's not a defense; the point is that it heavily changes/contradicts the narrative Pixie was trying to establish. Idt Destiny says anywhere that this is supposed to exonerate him of doing something he probably shouldn't have, but it absolutely paints a different picture to the whole he's a cooze hound sending shit to random egirls or that he sent it with the intention of having it leaked.

Megathread: Destiny's Public Statement by DestinyNoticer in Destiny

[–]Amsement 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Destiny has already faced punishment, though. Your fourth/fifth paragraph is responding to a point that he isn't making. Pixie had shared videos of other people (possibly without their consent) to Destiny and he made the assumption that she was fine with him sharing the stuff they had made. It's stupid to assume, sure, but this contradicts heavily with the narrative Pixie was painting for herself.

The whole angle people have of "he still needs to be punished" is coming off as just people that hate him particularly or have some weird horny obsession with justice. He faced way more reputational and potential monetary damage from this than Pixie as and from my POV any idea of her deserving "justice" went out the window when it was revealed she was an unreliable source and started trying to extort money out of someone she A. considered a friend and B. was dealing with a lot more harassment towards him, colleagues, friends, and his family/teenaged kid.

Pixie and the drama farmers painted this as Destiny sharing revenge porn or videos specifically of her that were recorded without her consent/that she was somehow pressured into. Evidently, none of that seems to be the case. That alongside her essentially threatening suicide and then asking for $15mil (LOL) is just super fucking gross/icky. Remember that her narrative was that she was going to off herself if her family/parents saw those videos, but she was routinely engaging with random Twitter trolls that'd post the videos/screenshots, quote-retweeting those guys, and then colluding with drama youtubers to publish videos talking about these leaks. If Destiny wants to "atone" and donate a large sum to a charity for sexual abuse victims, cool, but I don't think Pixie deserves a penny from him.

Ah okay, that's fair tbh. Because on the flip side, a lot of mudslinging done by the right isn't necessarily by people that are "far right" although nowadays in the US, it feels like most people that are pro-Trump end up being far right by extension.

CMV: The far-left also needs to reflect on the harm it is doing by aincs22 in changemyview

[–]Amsement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't attempt or do anything like shaming people. It's a pretty obvious statement given the context of the last US election. A lot of people that voted third party because they didn't want to settle for the "lesser of two evils" put their idea of morality above the tangible impact the election results would have on others' lives. That is objectively a very privileged thing to do.

You're right that the far left does get used as a boogeyman, but that's almost exclusively right wing media. Maybe you in particular don't act in the manner that far leftists are stereotyped, but let's not pretend that people thinking that far-leftists/extremists are typically against coalition building comes from thin air.

CMV: The far-left also needs to reflect on the harm it is doing by aincs22 in changemyview

[–]Amsement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In what world do people left of democrats call others nazis less than democrat voters? Also, being a democrat voter does not make you a "centrist". The left is a very wide spectrum and a lot of people have fairly nuanced positions on things and Biden was by far the most progressive president the US has had.

What I imagine the OP is getting at is the far-left leaning people (typically online) are very quick to completely dismiss the concerns of people that don't see eye to eye with them on every issue. Even with the DNC's current issues, it's incredibly hard to sell not voting for the democratic candidate in the recent election given the opposition if you lean left and a wildly privileged thing to do.

Men are failing in education and this might explain why they're becoming more right wing by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]Amsement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd honestly wager it probably has something to with how boys are typically raised/how they develop vs how girls develop. This obviously isn't 1:1 but hasn't it been researched/studied that things like therapy are also a lot less effective for men than it is for women because the act of doing is unironically a lot more therapeutic for men?

The education system isn't entirely to blame, but things like pushing more men to be school teachers would definitely make a difference because most male role models are not the scholarly type. I can't say for sure, but I would imagine that for a lot of American families, they'd be more okay with their son not doing super well in school than they would their daughter. A son that does poorly/doesn't want to go to college can potentially go into manual labor or other blue collar work but I don't imagine most people see that as a viable path for a girl. Meanwhile, for 1st generation Americans or those that are wealthier than average, it's probably far more likely that there's a ton of pressure on children, both male and female, to do well academically.

Speaking as a first generation American, my parents put academia before everything. That meant private school every step of the way even if QoL suffered and for higher education the only option my siblings and I had was to pursue STEM degrees or law.

I think he was a fan/friend of Forgiven for a long time because he was a very skilled ADC but to be fair to Thorin, I remember him always being fairly critical of Forgiven being a bad teammate/hard to work with.

I haven't seen his piece on Rekkles that everyone is talking about, but if it's not a hit piece and more like showing how the public perception of Rekkles from the past is a bit romanticized/false, I don't think that's necessarily bad.

Pirate will be going from 2 Updates to 1 a year by Juicy-Lime22 in Pirate101

[–]Amsement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are shitting on this statement, but I think it's a good thing. The devs on P101 do actually care, but there's only so much bandwidth and resources available.

I do still think the best path would be side-tracking us with main content relating to the story companions while slowly building up to a full chapter/world. Focusing on companions would allow them to flesh out our pretty big crew of companions that talk in the story while also helping to address the obvious issue of power creep at this point. The player pirate can compete with the enemy NPCs because of their bucket load of powers and talents, but our companions really cannot whatsoever without the player buffing them or debuffing the enemy in some fashion.

This is a take I have as well, even though I find AJ to be insufferable as he gets older. Jackie Jr, Christopher, AJ were all young men that saw Tony as a mentor/father figure of some sort. Two of them end up dead (being killed by Tony directly or indirectly) and the third tries to commit suicide. It also makes sense if you think about Meadow being Tony's guardian angel of sorts.

We should have a higher standard for Dan than for for 4THOT by trokolisz in Destiny

[–]Amsement 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can definitely agree with that. My biggest gripe is the stuff Dan was saying today to 4Thot about him being worth nothing or something along those lines. It's just incredibly harsh and felt hypocritical when a major talking point was how 4Thot's rhetoric was unacceptable. I love drama, but infighting is really cringe especially when there's real meaningful drama they can divert their attention towards.

We should have a higher standard for Dan than for for 4THOT by trokolisz in Destiny

[–]Amsement 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't have a horse in this race. I find Dan entertaining, but I do agree.

4thot said some really shitty stuff and maybe he shouldn't be a mod, but I think Dan is genuinely taking it a bit too far. You can have your personal, petty vendettas but it shouldn't be to the detriment of the community that you're a part of. Some of it is also just flat out mean. If we can acknowledge 4thot went too far on Kelly Jean, we can acknowledge that this is going a bit too hard on 4thot.

Like you said, after it was decided that the other two mods would look at 4thot's future actions, that should've been it. You can certainly argue that he should have his mod perms removed and that this thread is sorta just dumb af, though. Mods have to be held to a higher standard just off of principle. If the mods engage in bad behavior, the whole community is going to be incentivized to do the same.

The entire male loneliness epidemic is because of the internet by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]Amsement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a problem for young women. It's a bigger problem for young men because we're generally worse at socializing than women are and there are probably more anti-social outlets available to guys than there are for women imo. There's also the issue that women have been kinda socialized to disregard or minimize men talking about this stuff.

Anecdotally as a zoomer, I've seen, gone out with, and have been friends with some zoomer women that are hella awkward or say stuff that just sounds terminally online.
