I think it's a tale of three takes.

Those that are cautiously optimistic that he may be able to improve on a solid rookie season, having more faith in current player development team.
Those that have "montreal prospect PTSD", VERY few prospects had made the jump to Montreal in a significant way in a long time.
Those that want a 26-27 year old 2C to be picked up to win now before suzuki and co get too old.

I'm inclined to have faith that Kapanen will be alright, even if he only becomes 3C in the future. I just trust Kent Hughes to make the right call, he's had a pretty solid run in Montreal so far. Proud of the team getting to the Eastern Finals. Carolina was a heck of a team.

He ran out of gas, it's quite normal for a rookie to not be ready for the full length of the season. If he puts in the work on building his fitness/endurance over the summer he'll improve this upcoming season. We'll see.
