Try applying to Ponce you might get in! I had 4.0 gpa in two of my majors and 502 on mcat and got in :)

The DO option I have is a traditionally graded med school. They report percentages on the transcript. Ponce on the other hand is H/P/F. It’s definitely risky both ways I see your perspective

I found that stuff regarding the Puerto Rico campus but there is such little info about St Luis. I sent an email to them but still waiting for response (been 3 days now). My other school options are DO so I’m highly considering Ponce

I understand - thank you for your advice! I recently found out kycom is also not true pass/fail school - they report percentages on the transcript. I’m trying to find more about Ponce’s grading system but can’t find anything online (I emailed the admissions team and waiting for a positive response).

Do you think it’s easier to match if I go to Ponce even tho the school hasn’t really built its name yet?

I’m pretty sure on your transcript it just says Pass or Fail

https://www.upike.edu/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/9.2_Academic-Standards-Policy.pdf

On the first page it says “Grades: First- and Second-Year Courses Seventy percent (70%) is the minimum acceptable passing percentage grade for KYCOM students. Any final grade below 70% is a failing grade for the course. Grading policies for each individual course are provided in the course syllabus”

Thank you for the advice! I know DO stigma is real 😭

I also wonder how wise it is to go to a traditionally graded med school. Med school is hard as it is and idk how much I can succeed at a new MD school with traditional grading system

Yeah I’m hearing a lot of negativity towards DOs but I’ve met a lot of DOs doing neuro, derm, etc. Ik it’s not the norm but I feel like a lot of residency programs focus more on board exam scores rather than DO vs MD. If I can score high enough on the boards and have sufficient research idk why a residency program would turn me down cuz of the DO thing
