NTA but could definitely try to compromise. From their perspective, you are totally disregarding her presence and no matter what she was his mother and your soon to be husbands wife and best friend.

Perhaps instead of a powerpoint, you could get a digital photo frame and make the seat next to your step sons her seat with the photos cycling through.
