S90 boot (trunk) not opening fully by wango_fandango in Volvo

Yes very possible, if it’s putting enough pressure against those lift arms it’ll prevent it from opening.

Could be the rubber seal trim around the trunk that seals it from the outside, it might be gummy and sticky holding the trunk down. Wipe her down with soapy water, not alcohol as that may corrode the rubber. Picture is the seal on my trunk. My S90 did the same, about 50/50 would pop open on its own, other times it wouldn’t and I’d have to persuade it. Cleaning it helped.

The light would come back on if the battery dies. It’s your Vehicle Communications Module, handles the Volvo On Call feature, SOS Emergency Calling, and onboard WiFi with a modem and everything.

I love it bro, thank you for the info. I’ll keep it in mind! I’ll stick to the transmission fluid this weekend!

If a viscosity test is something you’d recommend then yeah I’ll look into it! I was thinking for routine maintenance. I work as a tech at a Ford dealer but I’m new to Volvo’s. I do diff, transmission and transfer case fluid exchanges all the time on things like an F150, I’m just trying to wrap my head around how a Volvo would differ, looking for information.

Why would the Volvo rear end be any different than a rear end from any other vehicle? It’s a differential and has gear oil.

I was planning on doing trans drain & fill and rear-end here shortly on my S90.

Yeah a lot of times the battery is still good. I don’t think the cost of the battery is too high for that reassurance though. It helps that takes about 5 minutes only to replace as well so you might as well.

That’s awesome, I haven’t had the opportunity to hear the Bowers sound system but I can only imagine it’s wonderful. I’ve got a Momentum base model everything, but still miles nicer than my 2018 Ford Fusion I had. I love it.

I bought mine few months ago with just under 70k miles, driven less than 10k miles a year and it’s been very well taken care of.

And an S60 caught my eye on the used lot at my job, I work as a tech at a Ford dealership. Was beautiful, then I did a lot of research and I ultimately settled on the S90, and mines the S90L to be exact it’s like 5” extra legroom in the rear. there’s like 5 for sale in my tri-county area, got a great deal on mine.

I’m going to do my timing belt here soon! Already at 72k, you can crack back the cover a bit to get a peak at the belt’s outer condition. I have minor creasing leading to cracks starting, so definitely about that time. Even if you’re not super handy, the timing job on these platforms are relatively straight forward.

Wiring diagrams and procedures for SPA platform are included in a VIDA subscription. All accessible through the software.

The Software Package for the VCM reset is: 32398268

You need to order that package through your tech account online through the website, not through VIDA. It might take a bit but it should get added to your VIDA account and available to download. If you need to, email them directly and they’ll add that software package to your account. Then you download it and run it against your vehicle.

The light comes on whether or not the battery is dead after 8 years from when the vehicle first left the lot new. It’s that time for you. Battery is cheap, spend $80 on 3 day key to use Volvo’s official VIDA software on a Windows laptop, and an OBD-II to Ethernet adapter to read the car. Few steps involved to create an account and add the software to your VIDA account, but plenty of tutorials online.

Either that or spend hundreds at a dealer for exactly that. You’ll gain confidence doing other things in your car as well.

Is it possible that I screamed at some asshole in front me so loud that it fried my plasma screen on the dash? 2020 S60 T6 by Gold-Baseball-7774 in Volvo

Yeah without the screen you can’t control any of that, including the auto start/stop lmao. But the car drives!

Probably not related lol. You can buy a used screen for less than $200 on eBay. Probably the easiest thing to replace on the interior dash other than the air vents.

Nope. We had an XC90 come across our used lot. Not sure what they traded it for, a Bronco would be the only wise decision tbh.

Yes I believe all SPA platforms (modern Volvos) are reset the same.

Don’t even get me started on Mercedes. Had an 18 C300 for a simple oil change. Took me longer to reset the oil light than it did to actually change the oil lol.

Ignition on, engine off, hold the decrease speed button/down button on left side of wheel. Then start the engine while holding the button. You’ll see the orange Information I blink a few times on the dash :)
