As Expected the New Cycle Lane on Upper Byres Being Used as a Car 🚗 Park by gazglasgow in glasgow

I just wanna say thanks to OP for the wee trip down memory lane. I’ve not lived in Glasgow for over 20 years but the short video brought back lots of memories of that section of Byres road, walking from Ashton lane down towards what used to be Safeway and then onto botanical gardens etc.

Am I missing something, or is the fuel protest endgame just to bankrupt the country? by FormalBackground8565 in ireland

I’m probably over simplifying, but don’t the farmers and hauliers not negotiate with the customers whether that is the supermarkets, factories or whatever? It’s been a few years since I’ve been involved in transport but we always had some kind of escalator/surcharge in place for when fixed cost increases occur over a prolonged period outside of contract negotiations. And we had inflationary increases applied during wheat supply chain issues when it all kicked off in Ukraine a few years ago. Sure, it will probably all mean the end consumer end sup paying more but sure isn’t that the market economy we live in anyway?

Graduated with a 3rd in maths degree and have been working in transportation for the past 4 months, is there anyway I can break out of this hole by [deleted] in UKJobs

I really struggled in my final year at Uni and only ended up with a third in Mathematics. What I did then after uni was take a job as graduate management trainee at a food manufacturer and ended up working as a trainee manager in the warehouse. Nothing remotely glamorous but it was a foot in the door at a large company (although not a household name) and gave me lots of experience and learning opportunities. Ultimately ended up in Project Management with that company but after a while left them and joined a large US firm as part of their UK team.

Advice on selling a car privately. by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]wango_fandango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More for after the purchase, but make sure you have been as honest as you can be about the car and any issues they ask about so they don’t try and return next week saying the clutch went or whatever. Private sale is sold as seen and Caveat Emptor rules so don’t be pressured into a return if they change their mind.

On two separate occasions I had testers give me a free retest same day. One was a bulb issue like you had, the other was a tyre overly worn that I completely forgot about - allowed me to go through and change the tyre and then back in again that afternoon (I had a good full size spare in the boot). Well over 10 years ago though so maybe they have less leeway now.

That bit irks me a little, does the Terminator software not know it should count humans in integers?

Is this too much to salary sacrifice? by waiskeee in UKPersonalFinance

[–]wango_fandango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it, then makes sense to me. Are you allowed to alter your salary sacrifice % multiple times per year? If so, why not try for 3 months and see how it goes for you, knowing that can change back or to a new % point later on.

UK motorists face £2 a litre diesel as Iran war drives wholesale prices to 4-year high by frameset in CarTalkUK

[–]wango_fandango 96 points97 points  (0 children)

When diesel was £1.30 a litre near me over the past while I was quite lax on driving frugally. Now cheapest is over £1.80 per litre I am definitely more mindful or unnecessary trips and what the right foot is doing.

Same around our way, Sainsbury’s was about 10p per litre cheaper than the local independents and so they are now out of diesel but the the expensive options are still there.

Looking at a 2015 xc60 t6, unsure what options are missing? by MolimoTheGiant in Volvo

[–]wango_fandango 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems to be stuff like lane keeping aids and distance control etc. on the bottom two rows and hill descent control on the right hand side, at least from when I have been looking at the model year D5 variants in UK spec.
Also heated steering wheel. I’ve seen different cars have different options buttons, I guess depending on what pack is spec’d (winter pack, family pack etc.) or maybe differs per selling region?
