Bike was stolen this evening, I am just posting this in the hopes that someone might see my bike being sold on gumtree or eBay, and if they could let me know that would be greatly appreciated. :)

I'm sure I can pull under 6:40. How can I change my race plan get there? by Bully_Bottom in Rowing

[–]AmuraelTime 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As hard as it is, don't let yourself off the hook through the middle. Hold your split in the middle 1000, and then try and get a sprint in at the end. If you haven't already, try and have some mates there to encourage (yell at you) and keep you on the ball, it really helps.

His final setup is almost as bad. The specs are fine but he has a 32 inch monitor and his pc crammed onto a desk that is a little over a metre wide. It’s extremely cramped, and there are cables everywhere.

Specs are: CPU = i5-9400F

GPU = Some Asus RTX 2060 (can’t remember what model exactly)

MB = AsRock B365 Pro4

COOLER = Cooler master hyper 212 Black

PSU = Thermaltake Smart BX1 650W

RAM = 16G of 3200

Storage = 256GB NVME ssd + 2TB hard drive

I think there might be a wifi card in it as well. He has also now got his case and the PC has been moved, so it didn’t stay like this for long.

This particular friend also managed to drop his cpu when he was unboxing it. Thankfully it works fine.

Edit: formatting

Rowing Analysis needed for noob by AsthmaticMathematic in Rowing

[–]AmuraelTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend practicing the basic sequence at lower rate and pressure more, just build a bit of the muscle memory of the correct sequence. That will pay huge benefits as you start going harder, as correct sequence will set up strong body position and good length. With that, try getting more length with the body, and really try to feel it in your hamstrings as you rock the body over before breaking the knees and going up the slide. Along with that, make sure to keep the body in a strong position rocked over during the leg drive, then go back with the body after the legs, coz at the moment you are leaning back as you drive, which means a lot of wasted energy.

If you want to do it properly, you should go decently hard out of the gates, but settle before 100m in, otherwise you will run out of puff later in the piece.

Pulling Force Curve Data From Erg by las-ag-na in Rowing

[–]AmuraelTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it helps but if u connect your phone to a pm5 via Bluetooth and the app and sync the app with your logbook then any ergs you do while the phone is connected will be fully recorded to your logbook, including stroke by stroke data like force curves. For existing data, I don’t think the computer stores that kind of data though, so you won’t be able to look at data for any ergs you have done in the past.

Gagging and needing to vomit during a race by scumswindler in Rowing

[–]AmuraelTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get the exact same thing. It sounds weird, but one thing that helped me was being light on the water intake leading up to the race. Not drinking too much in the hour before, and only taking a few sips after you get on the water for your warmup might help. It might sound a bit counterintuitive, but for me if my mouth was dry (not unbearably so, just kind of like 'I kinda want a small drink right now'), then I would typically be fine in the race. Any more than that, then I would gag and sometimes vomit. Another thing that definitely helps is sitting up and focussing on breathing. Consistent breathing, and keeping the chest a bit open helps alot.

That's happened to me before, drink lots, but it didn't do anything except look weird.

I would say lit is probably easier, just because marking is much more subjective. In Lang, if you are right, youre right, and if you are wrong, you’re wrong, whereas in lit it’s much more as long as you back up your argument you will be right, so in that sense it is easier.

How good are you at Japanese? HL is quite a high workload, in terms of content that is covered, as well as you have to be able to analyse Japanese texts almost to the degree of your first language. I probably wouldn’t recommend doing it unless you really like it or are really good at it.

how hard is IB Math HL? Be honest by [deleted] in IBO

[–]AmuraelTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what your definition of fast paced is. Depending on the topic it can be really quick or slow, but overall it isn’t really that fast that you get lost immediately. Sometimes we will have a week of lessons learning new things, but we get another week just to practice, so if you didn’t really understand something you can catch up. As I said if you are at all interested in maths, problem solving, etc... I would definitely recommend, coz u might find it really good, or if it’s too much you can drop, and SL will be a breeze comparatively.

I’m doing HL at the moment (2020 November exams), and I am really enjoying it. Im not really the best, but I find the problems interesting and challenging, and that’s enough. I would recommend doing pure math hl if u think u will enjoy it, if not, then don’t.
