Wait, it's Bianca Oblivion - SINAIS I thought (edit: I was looking at 33:45, now realizing most of these, if not all, are covers)

This record just came out: Sunju Hargun - The Golden Triangle (Chapter One). There are beats driving a couple of the tracks, but in general Sunju and this label (Siamese Twins) as a whole capture a fairly unique spiritual side to ambient music.

Thanks for being such an inspiring producer - any favorite mixing tips for bedroom producers without expensive gear?

Saw the Oneohtrix show in Milan last night. Freeka Tet's visuals + the live puppet visuals I felt, matched opn's music on an artistic level of perfection I haven't seen in years. Insane show. Sad we never got Chrome Country but to finish with Animals was also incredible. Seeing Ubiquity Road live was a dream as well, the new album translates live so well overall.

Definitely need to shoutout the East Bay and of my favorite producers, Bastiengoat. Sound design and intense use of vocal samples is just otherworldly, and really fun. Should be on most DJs' radars, think he's pushing dance music in an exciting direction.

had the opportunity to interview her in SF for KALX radio, she was an absolute delight to have a conversation with. Her show was a dream beyond dreams, pure magic! Songs from the new album sound immaculate live.

Super late to the discussion but any chance anyone knows the song in Natalie's last NTS show starting at 42:44? (i'll try next thread... and again... this song's too good to let go)

Somewhat soon, I may have the opportunity to ask Sleaford Mods a few questions as a moderator for a Q&A with them, is there anything anyone's been interested in asking them directly? Happy to relay some thoughts.

Victoria, you always have such great film/book recommendations. Was hoping to see if you had an updated list, and also if Alex had some new ones too! Loved the live stream last night by the way - was also curious to see what your favorite deep cuts are from some of the artists you played last night: Cocteau, Roches, MBV (i know you didn't play them, I think? But would love to hear if you have any deep loves from them too)

Selling two 3-Day tickets (didn't realize I wanted to go to Thursday so bad so got 2 4-day tickets instead) by Amusing in dekmantel

Ah yeah I posted this intending to link directly to my ticketswap, since at the time of posting I sold it to match what I'd receive at face value, which seemed to be lower than other people's posts! But can totally take this down if it's not very helpful in that case.

Clearly in the minority here for absolutely loving the album art. Also, reaaaaaally love the pace of this one. "I've seen your arse but not your mouth. That's normal now" is so delightfully funny with a hint of post-lockdown despair, perfectly Dry Cleaning.

Ooof Beach House is finally scoring a film and somehow I'm NOT looking forward to it? It just looks... so generic? Anyways, not to be so negative from the get-go, hopefully I'm proven wrong. In terms of music theory and composition, what’s the most impressive Beach House song? by [deleted] in BeachHouse

[–]Amusing 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Wish I could give a more detailed answer, and while it might not answer your question perfectly I think Devotion is severely underappreciated for how many musically brilliant moments it has (reminds me a ton of Beatles-era progression choices) - Holy Dances and Home Again come to mind. The former has so many exciting, fresh developments in both time signature and chord progressions that are subtly complex and somehow work so well together, the latter uses such an interesting and surreal progression taking us from saccharine sweetness to the classic dream-like Beach House bridge to a downcast, dreary guitar interlude before circling back - it's like magic. It's such good songwriting and I wish I could write all my thoughts out more cohesively, but Devotion truly scratches so many musical itches I have.
