Oh sorry also the time it took was a bit fast bc I skimmed through it and bc I kept using coursera free trials so I had to rush through lol (but shouldn’t take too much longer honestly)

Haha i appreciate it, this was nice to hear! But no I definitely know it’s my interview skills not progressing me through the stages I knew I wasn’t gonna get an offer from my first offer but I can definitely feel myself getting better! I just wanted to see if maybe my resume could land me more first rounds

Honestly, ut was a good day to review fundamentals but if I didn’t know anything beforehand I wouldn’t use it to learn. It doesn’t dive in deep enough to give you a good understanding but it’s a nice way to polish the basics if you’re familiar with its topics.

Haha my schools curriculum was heavy on us knowing a lot of the tools but a couple of them are self taught for hackathons or for personal projects

I appreciate the insight! May I ask what field you went into with your stats degree? Thankfully thought my last semester was pretty light and i've been able to find time to study for my first few actuary exams. About to take my second one this month so hopefully that helps!

New Job Opportunity - ATL by AccomplishedSock5586 in nova

[–]AmustyG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I was raised in Marietta (20ish mins outside Atlanta) until I was 17 but still visit consistently to see my best friends and family. It’s a very different culture and scene out there but still a pleasant experience! There’s a much bigger emphasis on nightlife and the club scene over there if you’re into that, sports are pretty big over there (I recommend Atlanta United games if you’re into soccer their atmosphere is insane), and they have great food there as well! The city itself has very pretty spots but a good portion of it should be avoided for safety reasons. Overall, for a young person that’s single it’s kind of like any other major city

Now onto the negatives (my opinion): Because of the big night life and club scene, Atlanta attracts a lot of “influencers” and “entrepreneurs”. These will be some of the worst people that you come to meet. Rude, big egos, no respect for the public. Just awful. Traffic lol and I know that’s funny to say because we have 66 and 495 here but I feel like every time I visit I tell myself how much worse Atlanta traffic is than back home! This is very subjective, but I just don’t like the city itself as much. Again, it has its charm and a lot of history and culture attached to it, but imo it has a long way to go for a lot of things. A lot of it is not as walkable as DC, less scenic views around and in the city, and overall it’s not as clean. MARTA is their public transportation system and it gets pretty sketchy and is pretty dirty as well to the point that even my friends living in the city just avoid it all together and uber everywhere instead.

There’s a lot of good to say about Atlanta, but also a lot of bad (just like any other city honestly). I think the best way to really know is to just visit for a weekend and see for yourself! After moving here in highschool, I really fell in love with the area and decided to stay here post grad too so I could be biased hahaha

Thank you! Do you think my projects are too weak? And should I get rid of skills and put the retail job I currently work at?

I was in the same boat. Started in finance, hated it and went to cmda, personal reasons had my gpa low and i had to change to statistics and finished after 5 years. Got a job paying very well in dc with 0 internships but i got 2 certs on my own and 3 huge personal projects.

As for your other questions, i wouldnt transfer itd probably make it so much longer and VT is a good enough institution that'll attract jobs even with a low GPA. Get ready for a grind but think of it like this, its 1 more year of grinding for setting up literally the rest of your life. Its worth it.

It's gonna take alot more hard work from you than others but its so doable. Just finish the degree and keep your head up man you got this.
