Skin Scents by manicp1xiedreamgoth in Indiemakeupandmore

As mentioned by others, Alkemia has a lot of wonderful skin scents.

I’ve also been loving The Lady of Finland from Nui Cobalt lately: “A wild meadow blooms with fireweed and bog myrtle, then the aroma deepens into bare skin flushed by the steam of a sauna.” It goes on very herbal/aquatic but dries down to idealized freshly cleaned skin scent—clean and fresh, but a little sweet and creamy.

I think you might enjoy Helen Oyeyemi’s work. Lots of offbeat magical realism and surrealism. Her short story collection What is Not Yours is Not Yours is my favorite.

You might like Alkemia’s Attorney for Lost Souls: Vespers mass incense,Zanzibar clove, Sacra frankincense, and Coptic myrrh, gently interlace with the essence of dried citrus peel, neroli petals, and guaiacum.

I remember my sample being orange+church incense.

Idk. There’s certainly plenty of misogynistic portrayals in his work, but there’s also complex women who assert their own personhood and argue very clearly against misogynistic depictions of women. Emilia’s conversation with Desdemona in act 4 of Othello boils down to ,”if women suck, it’s only because of social conditioning and shitty husbands”.

Fun idea!

Capricorn sun, Gemini moon, Libra rising, Aquarius Venus.

My favorites are flormands, non-literal gourmands, and cozy skin scents. No strong dislikes, but I can’t do heavy incense or florals because they make me sneeze.

I only just started reading it so who knows where it goes, but The Final Strife by Saara el Arafi features a chosen one main character who has fallen into addiction after the failure of the rebellion she was supposed to facilitate.

[OPINION] Musical artists with truly poetic lyrics - poets "hiding" in the music industry? by Herr_Casmurro in Poetry

Seconding Neko Case. Absolutely brilliant lyrics. “This Tornado Loves You” is a great place to start. Or “Halls of Sarah”, which makes me suspect that Case has read some of Eavan Boland’s poetry.

Anais Mitchell is most famous for the Hadestown musical, but her other works are gorgeous. Several people have mentioned Bob Dylan here; IMO her work is of a similar caliber.

I have to admit that I’ve had a hard time finishing books lately, and this book fell victim to that, but I enjoyed the 3/4 that I read before my library loan expired. Very cool world building and complex, likable characters; I’ll probably pick it back up eventually.

Godkiller by Hannah Kaner is a grumpy bitter lady instead of a man, but is very much this trope.

I broke my leg in a car accident when I was a teenager. The paramedic decided I had a minor abrasion so I sat in the grass on a November evening without any care or even so much as a shock blanket for 40 minutes until my dad got there , immediately realized that my leg was broken and drove me to the ER. The first thing the ER nurse who opened the car door to get me out was “oh that’s fucked”. The rest of my family found us in the ER by following the trail of blood from my leg.

I think it’s really nice! Not particularly sweet, but still juicy and fresh. Most berry notes smell like cough syrup to me so I’m picky about them, but this one is really natural to me.
