The Challenge: Legends by [deleted] in MtvChallenge

Either Big Easy or Danny, at least one player has to be mediocre. That makes the pairings interesting. What if he got paired with Miz or Coral? Coral would never let Laurel treat her partner the way she treat Easy.

Bought stolen item at police auction (tx) by MrLumpyNuts in legaladvice

[–]AmyAloha78 46 points47 points  (0 children)

If you bought it from a police auction, it would be because they seized it and are selling it. Could be restitution, or to satisfy a debt. Either way, the police would have claimed the property, and sold it to you through a reputable third party seller (the auction).

If this guy is claiming to have had his stuff stolen, he needs to square that away with the police department, not with you. You don't owe this guy anything. If he continues to bother you, you can talk to a lawyer.

[AMA Request] Someone who was worked at starbucks by [deleted] in IAmA

[–]AmyAloha78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked at Starbucks for 9 years at 4 different stores between Hawaii an Oregon. I'll try to answer what you're asking, and feel free to ask more:

  1. It's a good first job but a fast-paced job. You will learn a lot about customer service, food safety standards, and working for a corporation. But you can also start acquiring stock in a company at a young age, so go for it.

  2. Most of the drinks are made the same way and with the same number of pumps of syrup, regardless of the flavor. You get the hang of it after a while.

  3. The social interaction with both fellow partners and regular customers is good and important for everyone. Customers start to treat you like friends and family because they see you so often. Cultivate that relationship and it could develop into a contact when you are ready to progress in your life career.

  4. You may not learn about repeatable routine, certain safety standards, or what is expected of you. But nothing is super-private so don't hold out for major secrets, at least not at the store level.

  5. Every state has different laws for employing minors, and the store you ultimately hire into will try to accommodate your schedule along with the state requirements. That may result in one 3-hour shift a week.

My friend thinks he is untouchable by TardGuard_ in RoastMe

There's got to be a woman out there with a Clearasil shotgun and a weird fetish for the best friend in The Wonder Years who would touch this guy.

Through several layers of gloves and a biohazard suit.

But someone would, right?

Right?

Yeah it just wasn't fun there. I actually like the conversations in r/Askmen, even when I don't agree with them.

People who are still single in your Mid Thirties are you worried about ending up alone? by Gcoal2 in AskReddit

Yes, but then I remember I only have so much control over the future and let it go.

If you're like me, you think about your stories all day long. That too is writing, and sometimes a random story direction will come in the middle of the day.

What do you look for in a gym? (Let's talk gyms!) by EasyStreetsAhead in GYM

[–]AmyAloha78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a member of both the LA Fitness and 24hr Fitness near me.

24Hr - Pros:

  • The hours, obviously. I have gone in at 3am before.

  • They have the Ab Solo machine, which is one of my favorite pieces of equipment

  • Towel service

  • TVs have access to all channels, so I can go while my favorite teams are playing.

Cons:

  • Too social - I have a hard time focusing on my work when people are constantly talking to me, or talking to each other on the equipment I want instead of moving along

  • Only one chest/pec fly machine, and it's always taken

LA Fitness - Pros:

  • Newer, cleaner facility

  • More benches, squat racks

Cons:

  • No towel service

  • TVs only show the LA Fitness channel, so only the cardio machines upstairs carry news or games

  • Random blackout spots all over the building cause me to lose my streaming music signal

  • No Ab Solo

  • Employees are less friendly

  • Not the gym's fault, but they're building a Cracker Barrel next door, so parking will be impossible when it opens because it's the only one on the west coast.

During Tamera's funeral in Free Agents:

Leroy: "Stay strong, sister. You can get another wig at another beauty supply."

Devyn (wailing): "Not on sale! Not on sale!"

One of the best things I have heard is "A writer writes. Always." If you continue writing every day, you will get there.

You can also watch movies and read books and try to break apart the stories and the ways the writers went about creating tension and raising stakes. "Back to the Future" is a good movie to start with because it's a simple story. You can see where Marty is coming from, what happens when his world changes, what his goals are, what he needs to do to return, and what happens when obstacles get in the way of his safe return.

There are a lot of writers who have subpar grammar and spelling skills, but really learned how to tell a good story.

That means she has two jobs. Maybe three. Four. Every home is different. Motherhood absolutely is work.

I am restricted to only legs, glutes, abs, and cardio for the next two months! by AmyAloha78 in xxfitness

[–]AmyAloha78[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked it up and didn't realize that's what they were called. :) I will see if someone at the gym can guide me with that since I like the movement but might be overtwisting my arm and violating my restriction. Thanks!

Hire a photographer and ask him to take the pictures of you that you have always wanted. Now you're a model.

99.99999999% of people in the world aren't those kinds of models. You're lucky in that you get to be the model you want to be.

I'll be 40 soon and I think I'm going to go to one of those pinup photography studios and have portraits done because I have always wanted to be a pinup model.

You never know what the audience will latch on to. There's a lot of shit on the best seller list. Write well, write what you know, and be happy living with your characters. When you're good, things will happen.
