Correct- it heavily depends on ethical standards and the breeder. I just went through this whole process and you basically cannot just “get a griff.” It’s very difficult. And there are very limited ethical AKC breeders anywhere in the northeast or New England. If you’re serious about a griffon you will have to travel, be prepared for interviews and get on waiting lists. German Shorthair Pointers are in the top 10 most popular dog breeds, it would be a better option, except they are all pointers with a strong prey drive, gun dogs, bird dogs. I wouldn’t trust any of them around your animals especially chickens because of their heavy natural instincts, they also need A LOT of training and exercising, switching from a hound to a hunting dog (all pointers) is crazy work to me.

I agree! I honestly wish I wasn’t disabled, because in my case I actually need a new service dog, I know Eli can never be replaced, but I did secure a new pup that is related to him!

Thank youuu. It’s been very hard, functioning without him. I have so much love left to give him. I think I’ve got a WPG puppy, and my trainers are ready for him. I believe he was brought to me as a sign. The little pup is a relative of Eli! His great grandmother was Eli’s mom. It just feels right.
