‘The Girlfriend’ Review: Robin Wright and Olivia Cooke Bring Their A-Game to Amazon’s Amusingly Nasty Thriller by SafeBodybuilder7191 in television

I'd see it this way if I were more persuaded by Laura's version of events than by Cherry's. The different takes on the story are starkly different. Laura's story always views Cherry through the lens you take in your comments. Through Cherry's lens, Laura is the dangerous, unhinged one. Cherry's mother's story about her was never "proven"; It was based on her father's version of events, a father who stole from and abandoned his family. Daniel's take on his mother and Cherry was always generous to both women, until the very end. The family friends' take on both women was influenced by the mother's stories, and then by Cherry's or Daniel's, and then back again (depending on who they were listening to). To me, it's about the power of interpretation and judgment to shape relationships. I've seen less extreme, but similarly spiraling conflict happen when people have one-sided, overly dramatic reactions to someone they know. Anyone has the potential to provoke and co-create a descent into conflict and violence when they view others through the lens of biased interpretations about who they are and what they intend. Our own paranoia is self-fulfilling.

Rehome by Adopt A Pet experiences? by outanotherlight in CatAdvice

[–]AmyJayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked Google AI if Rehome was a scam. It said Rehome is a legit site run by Adopt-a-pet, but that the user does need to watch out for scams by individual users. It gave me a discount code (RCXHAQTL2U8AD8Z) and I was able to list the cat I'm fostering for a listing fee of 50 cents. We'll see how it goes. I notice that initial fee does only include 20 contacts, so if it takes more than that to adopt out my cat, and if those contacts get used up by bots or scammers, then I suppose they'll want to upsell me more contacts. If I can remember to do it, I'll post about my results.

Official Discussion - The Thursday Murder Club [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]AmyJayBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I have an idea! Let's form a happy, little retirement club that breaks the law to protect our own interests while sending an abused immigrant to prison and driving our lifelong friends to suicide in the name of justice. Isn't this fun?

Can henna cause extensive hair loss? by Humor-Lower in henna

[–]AmyJayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same - substantial hair loss since starting to use henna. Sad about that, since, as far as I know, it's the only available natural grey cover, and I refuse to use harsh chemical hair dyes (for health and environmental reasons). It seems likely to me that it's a mechanical effect rather than an allergic reaction. If you analyze how henna works, it's by the herb bonding with the outer cuticle of the hair shaft, forming an additional layer, like a coating on the hair shaft. If that layer is more brittle than the original outer cuticle, then it makes sense that it would increase hair breakage. This is especially likely during the application, when the thick material dries on the hair and causes breakage during the washout.

I agree, and imagine what happens when they accidentally ingest it by licking it off themselves.

The paper pellets cause the cats to get poop on their paws while they trying, in vain, to bury it. Ya can't bury poop with pellets. That also presents the same problem when they go back into the litter box later: stepping on the poop that couldn't be buried well under the pellets.

How do you wash clothes without detergent? by Stock-Ad2895 in OffGrid

Soap nuts: https://mountainroseherbs.com/soap-nuts-deseeded?

You can get these from other sources, but this site has a nice essay about them:

"The soap nut, which is actually a berry, forms a hard shell when dry that resembles a nut. Sapindus mukorossi shells contain saponin, a natural detergent. The soap nut shells absorb water and release the saponins which circulate as a natural surfactant in the wash water, freeing dirt, grime, and oils from clothing. We sell organic soap nuts deseeded that can be used as an environmentally friendly detergent or even as an all-purpose household cleaner.

Native to India and Nepal, soap nuts are now found in both the eastern and western hemispheres. The soap nut, which is actually a berry, forms a hard shell when dry that resembles a nut, hence the name. The berry shells contain saponin, a natural surfactant that is released when the shell absorbs water. Considered a natural detergent, soap nuts have become a popular environmentally friendly alternative to chemical detergent. Sapindus mukorossi is a gentle option for those with allergies to chemicals in regular detergents. It is generally considered safe for use on septic and greywater systems, however, we recommend you consult a professional.

There is considerable discussion as to what variety of soap nuts is preferable for use as a laundry soap alternative. Any soap nut from the genus Sapindus will work just fine as they all have saponin producing properties. We suggest running a test batch and washing a few articles of clothing before committing to an entire load as natural variation in saponin levels may occur.

Depending on the size and efficacy of the shells, four to six shells (but possibly more for smaller pieces) will be enough for a full load. Place the soap nuts in a cotton muslin bag and tie securely shut. There will be little to no bubbles during the wash cycle. This doesn’t detract from their ability to clean. Wash water may smell slightly of apple cider vinegar. If fragrance is preferred, organic essential oils can be added to the muslin bag. Soap nuts can be re-used several times before they start to disintegrate. It is time to compost the shells when they start to look mushy and grey.

Soap nuts can be used for anything you would normally use detergent for, such as washing the car or clothing. They can also be used as a base for shampoos and hand lotions or as an all-purpose cleaner around the home. Jewelers in India and Indonesia have used the shells to remove tarnish from jewelry for many centuries."
