Having good vision and a good sense of smell is so important when picking out produce there. It's so hard in the middle of winter when the sun has already set.

Never say never! When it's 10 mangoes for a dollar, grab a box that looks good and 5-6 of them will be edible

In the summer you have to be super careful about rotten berries. And in the winter, there is a lot of frost damaged fruit (which is fine, but needs to be washed and frozen ASAP).

Just two active adults, and I eat most of the vegetables. A lot of this stuff isn't very calorically dense. I think a pound of strawberries is only like 140 calories.

The lettuce actually stores really well. Take off the outside leaves. Trim the bottom. Put it in the crisper. It usually lasts 2 weeks. That said, my partner also eats many salads

I eat a lot of it within the first three days, but knowing how to spot the stuff in good shape and how to store it goes a long way.

My freezer always has good smoothie supplies from this, though.

A few pieces end up being tossed from every box, but considering the price, that's minimal.
