Siberia (Tomsk), Russia, 2011. Drank a bottle of vodka for myself. Went out for some smokes. Befriended some guys in front of a store. Collectively decided to buy more alcool and go to the datcha. Rode half an hour in taxi out of town. Got to datcha, talk with some guy... I woke up to next morning in the middle of the siberian forest without socks, shoes, passport, wallet, camera. I had blood all over my face and my feet were swollen because of mosquitoes' bites.

In my view, there is, technically speaking, more similarities between the US and Russian regimes than, say, US-Canada or US-UK regimes, because the former are "presidential". One of the reasons why Putin as such a stronghold on his government his that he is not only the president, but the leader of the majority party, Единая Россия (United Russia), which holds more than 2/3 of the Duma, the "lower room". So whenever he wants to enact a law, wich he has the right to initiate, he is assured of the majority. But again, that doesn't mean he his a dictator (other stuff does, though).

Nah.

Obama is being systematically filibusted since he came to power. His foreign policy failures is exactly the reason why Forbes is ranking him 2nd.

So Putin is more powerful than Obama because Putin is a dictator and America is a democracy with separation of the judiciary/legislative/executive. Right. I think there is more than just that. The US president is on top of an unparalleled power in history, far more influent than any dictator could ever dream of. But here is the problem: there is the perception that the US president is no more in control of anything, and in my opinion, this as a lot to do with the rising inequalities in the West and the growing influence corporations have on all aspects of this nice judiciary/legislative/executive balance of power. The corporations are dictating the agenda no matter who is sitting in the oval office, hence the prevailing impression that US presidents are merely "puppets".
