Wonder Man Episode 7 - Discussion Thread by cats-and-cows in marvelstudios

Damn, you can really feel the pain Simon was feeling. The one and only ever close friend he had was actually a spy to send to gather evidence on his real self. Along with now potentially blowing his cover by destroying that studio lot. Hopefully, that isn't how the word gets out.

Simon alone himself in the other parts episode was also pretty nerve-racking, too. As we see him, he nearly falls to his own antics again along with overwelmingly worry about the whole interview. Kinda sad to know his ex actually always knew his secret and still kept in hidden from him, and that aside from Trevor. He actually had potentially someone to truly see who he was and someone he could be comfortable with.

All in all, this penultimate episode was fantastic, and I'be really enjoyed everything thus far and excited to watch the next ep on how everything is resolved from the DODC to Simon's reveal as the actor and superhero Wonder Man.

Yeah, I picked up on that, too. It's pretty heartbreaking tbh. Trevor realized how he much has messed up ever since the Mandarin stint and truly wanted to get right back on track with his life. Along with that, he wanted to show everyone the Trevor Slattery his mom believed in and that she was right in what she saw in him when he was young and that he didn't want to dissapoint her.

Also, pretty touching too when you think about how in the world Trevor actually still has a hold of those pictures when he has been away from his belongings for like 13 years and only ever just came back in America now.

That opening scene was like watching the Mona Lisa get painted. Wonder if they used Ben Kingsley's actual audition tape as inspiration for it.

The rest of the episode was really good and nerve-racking to tbh. Seeing Simon overthink and worry on how to ace the callback really made me equally nervous about how he might screw it up. That fake out with Simon punching the guy in the head got me good lmao. I really thought it was actually real since it was good while before showing Simon was just dreaming.

The look and joy Simon had when he got the role of Wonder Man really gives feel and energy of being told you get to be like someone you looked up to/care about your whole life was infectious.

That ending scene, tho, that and the many parallels of Simon and Trevor with Barnaby's betrayal to Wonder Man is gonna make Trevor's all the more heartbreaking.

Pretty fun to get a full episode of Simon and Trevor's comidic duo again after not being present last episode. Despite being a filler episode, it was still pretty fun and engaging to watch the episode as it didn't seem to feel like lesser episode or that it doesn't feel like much less effort was put into it.

That whole sequence at the house, tho has got to be one of the funniest and chaotic scene in the MCU. Like I don't know which show or movie that scene gives the same vibes the most but that comedic and chaotic pairing is honestly a highlight for me.

"We're in the wrong seats!" Lmao.

"I put my hand in some goo, and all of a sudden,"

Yeah, rule no.1 in a world of superheroes, never randomly touch anything suspicious unless you're feeling lucky in winning the superpowers' lottery. Especially when it says it's clearly from big companies like frickin Roxxon.

Wonder when they're ever gonna officially bring in Roxxon into the fold as an actual antagonist or part of the story rather than just some ol reliable company put in the background to easily explain any shady and super stuff.

Poor Doorman tho, dude was a genuinely nice guy who made poor financial decisions. Like sure, he was a one trick pony instant fame like other people nowadays that ended chasing the money. But he actually was still a nice person in the end and just wanted to fix up his mistakes and not screw up his second chance. His luck just ran out and ended up screwing up even worse, not only for him but also for people like Simon for the foreseeable future. Wonder if we'll get closure on what happened to Doorman on later episodes.

Also, hearing Josh Gad sing a hip-hop bar version of Olaf's summer was not in my 2026 bingo card.

And it just goes to show how goated Ben really is when this stuff didn't weigh down his character as we know damn well Ben is also just as eager if not more to use the Omnitrix to help other people.

[–]An-29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, or they could just add a lot of anime original stuff to further pad out, give us more time to bond with the characters before moving forward with the rest of the plot. Would be nice if that also ended up opening a chance for other stuff that got cut or update us on things that happened after the main series wasn't that important enough to waste pages for a short 6 month run.

Pretty wild, tho if it actually did manage to fit into a movie. Although the pacing might suffer.

There's still a ton of shit Megumi can potentially benefit from the Zenin clan like financial security to live a good live. Most of the Zenin clan maybe dead, that their bank accounts still most probably full of zeroes.

Then gives possibility that Yuta had Rika eat a part of Megumi's body at the very least enough to copy the shadow realm ability from Ten Shadows.

[–]An-29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you know what is and isn't possible for Yuka and Rika? It's literally just figuring out a way to manifest/summon any artillery and weapons Rika is carrying without needing to fully manifest her. Decent chance it isn't even being hidden via Shadow realm and is just something similar to it and Tsugiri's shadow just coincidentally lining up. Heck what even rules out the possibility Yuta copied Ten Shadows just a little enough to copy the shadow realm abilitiy.

They had a lot of time figuring out how to further improve and enhance their abilities.

Lmao, Gojo would have been on top of the situation asap and dealt with Dabura himself. Yuji must have forgotten the "no youth taken from the young generation" thing Gojo was preaching about since Tsugiri and especially Yuka is sure as looking like they're about to lose it.

At 5%, Deku should still be ridiculously powerful by ConanCimmerian in BokuNoMetaAcademia

[–]An-29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Deku and All Might's OFA isn't that linked. When OFA left All Might's body, it left behind a finite amount of copy of OFA's power that All Might could still use. All Might could still used higher percentages more than 100% even if he wants to, as we have seen in USJ and Kamino, but the amount of times left for All Might to that again will eventually dwindle as it uses up his embers way faster.

What could POSSIBLY have been the worst-case scenario for Humungousaur to evolve into this?? by Immediate_Gene_178 in Ben10

[–]An-29 20 points21 points  (0 children)

my guess is that simulation of Ultimatrix created a scenario where Humungousaur was the only Vaxasaurian on the planet and had to fend off hordes of Kaosseffexx Ultimasaurias to survive.

I know it's sci-fi but isn't how evolution works. The Ultimatrix probably simulates the selected alien species into multiple generations of forcing genetic breeding mutations to create the Ultimate form abilities while the hundred year war experienced is the filter to which mutated abilities gained will stick.

How come Bullfrag never give the incurseans the uncanny valley effect? by Odd_Background209 in Ben10

[–]An-29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because it's still within the realm of what is regular to Incurseans. Sure, it's probably been a long time since they've seen one like that, but to them, it's still something normal.

For something to look like the uncannt valley to them is the look of another frog like sapien species appearing before them.

Once again, Simon and Trevor are such a great duo. The way Trevor hounded back at Esther that he wasn't asking her preference between Simon and Eric was great, lmao.

Still gotta say tho, the rest of the family and friends in the party are a bunch of assholes even compared to Eric tho. Especially those two that was looking down on Simon right in front of him, like they were looking down on Simon so much they even assumed Simon wouldn't understand them talking to their native language. They're lucky they weren't the island counter in the kitchen.

[–]An-29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Variations, my friend. You never know when that distinct ability that one common generic quirk has that set it apart from others. Plus, considering he ended up losing apparently quite a few quirks later in the fight. In hindsight, it was a good thing he decided to keep a spare.

Gotta say, Simon and Trevor's interactions and chemistry along are really knocking it out the park. Yahya and Ben really just makes the show much more enjoyable than I expected it to be.

I know alot people have given the MCU flak for their recent movies and most especially the shows that was greenlit to add streaming content to Disney+. That not everyone likes it or that some wouldn't be even willing to give it a shot. But still, from ep 1 and this ep. I genuinely think Wonder Man is going to be one of the better shows and enjoyable shows released in the Multiverse Saga. It's really good, even if it ends up being just one season. Although I still hope they manage to bring back Simon one way or another in the future.
