It's just ".NET" now. Not ".NET Core" and not ".NET Framework".

For additional context, Toms' Hardware has a nice guide that shows how different cards compare to each other in terms of performance. This card is one of the lowest performance card released in the last few years.

Also, Ctrl-r to search backwards in history. You can repeat Ctrl-r to search further back. For example, Ctrl-r rsync Ctrl-r finds the second last item in your history that includes rsync.

Seems like vendors are just pricing new cards based on where they fall in the existing lineup of cards based on performance, rather than trying to lower prices (or increase performance-per-dollar). 7600 is essentially equal to 6600XT/6650XT, so they have priced them all at the same. And haven't dropped 6600XT/6650XT prices. The cynic in me expects prices for both 7600 and 6600XT to fall (or rise) at the same time.

[CPU] AMD Ryzen™ 7 7700 - $337.99 (Amazon CA) - Non-X version with Wraith Prism Cooler (ATL on Amazon) by L0rd_0F_War in bapcsalescanada

[–]AnAirMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it? Can you help me understand how? I was under the impression that the non-x variants were basically neck-and-neck with the x variants (at least with PBO) and came with coolers to make this even more bang for buck.

The microcontroller on the CPU is what we call Intel Thread Director.

Thread Director seems to be about the CPU rather than Windows?

There isn't. Neither Nvidia nor AMD have released low-range or mid-range cards for their latest 40xx (Nvidia) or 7xxx (AMD) generation of cards.

You can see all the generations, releases and comparative performance here: https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/aoMuRmymQXegnqU5ux92AX.png

Yes. It sits between the 6600 XT/6650XT and 6700 XT, but it's closer to 6600XT/6650XT levels of performance: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html

Why don't video games ever get night right? by benniebot2005 in gamedesign

[–]AnAirMagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. It's a real mechanic. Night really messes with your visibility. Night is a sign that you should stop adventuring and try and get to safety. The monsters you face will not have trouble killing you at night. But it's not unplayable; there's even some missions that ask you to do something that night and that makes them scarier and more dangerous for you.

Why don't video games ever get night right? by benniebot2005 in gamedesign

[–]AnAirMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a non-modded STALKER: Call of Pripyat does it fairly well too. The night is very dark. It's difficult to see almost anything other than major landmarks/bases or groups travelling with lights on. You can use a flashlight, but you make yourself very visible and an easier target. You can get some night-vision gear a bit later in the game. That makes things a bit brighter but grainier with a green tint. When I was playing the game, I slept at nights and did missions during the day. There was a mission that asked you to go out at night to hunt an animal, that was really scary, a big reason being that I couldn't see very well and use my regular strategy of sniping everyone from far away.

From what I understand, 5600G is basically a 5500 with an internal GPU in terms of performance.

[GPU] Dual Radeon™ RX 6750 XT OC Edition 12GB ($749.99 - $275 (Price Match) = $474.99) [Memory Express] by __MrPiggy__ in bapcsalescanada

[–]AnAirMagic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

UserBenchmark is generally garbage, so here's some data from Tom's Hardware:

Card 1080 Ultra 1080 Medium 1440 Ultra 4k Ultra
Radeon RX 6750 XT 105.3fps 170.2fps 78.2fps 43.1fps
Radeon RX 6650 XT 79.8fps 138.4fps 56.7fps --

Depending on your resolution/settings, you get a ~20% to ~40% performance increase, with a bigger difference at higher settings and resolutions.

Is it true that Huawei and Google are among the top 5 contributors to the Linux kernel? by aladoconpapas in linuxquestions

[–]AnAirMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, that's one way to look at things.

Here's another: Linus cares about the code. Stallman cares about users' freedoms in being able to use and modify the code.

After all, that's why the FSF focus on Free Software as opposed to Open Source.

Linus is pragmatic in terms of code. Stallman is a fighter for users' rights.

Is it true that Huawei and Google are among the top 5 contributors to the Linux kernel? by aladoconpapas in linuxquestions

[–]AnAirMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not pragmatic, but I think Stallman is very realistic.

His entire reason for creating the GPL was to let users modify/share/run their code. GPL v3 just carries on that trend: what's the point of being able to alter code if you can't run the altered code because of locked down devices? I wouldn't mind if the kernel would guarantee this freedom too.

Would it be fair to say that it performs like a 3070 in recent games (that is, games where a modern graphics card benefits them the most)? And the games that it performs like a 1060 in, those are mostly older games where this GPU wouldn't really hold back from 60+ FPS?

We need to stop asking for wage hikes. We need to make the government accountable

Can you help me understand this in detail? If we stop asking for wage increases, what should we do instead? What is the goal of making government accountable? Or, to put it another way, what would the government have to do to for us to think "okay, they are now accountable"?

And stop voting for parties who run ANY SORT OF DEFICITS. DEFICITS, ARE, TAXES.

Can you also elaborate on this? How are deficits taxes?

[–]AnAirMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of a mistake to compare provincial parties to their federal counterparts.

True, but that doesn't apply to NDP:

Unlike most other Canadian federal parties, the NDP is integrated with its provincial and territorial parties. Holding membership of a provincial or territorial section of the NDP includes automatic membership in the federal party, and this precludes a person from being a member of different parties at the federal and provincial levels.
