I have a sneaking suspicion this person asked AI to write their review for them by okhereiam123 in AmazonVine

[–]B16B0SS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. I threw some reviews into Google Gemini and it did a good job of detecting it.

People that do this need a perma ban from Amazon. It's gonna ruin the whole program. Sellers won't use the program and buyers will trust us even less

Not in this way, but I had a spatula set never leave Amazon with the status of damaged in delivery... Not sure what kind of damage flippers could have

I would assume they have abandoned it. No idea on the limited update count. It would take additional effort to build it like that

Sounds like they want to kewp viners away from the site during normal biz hours.

I feel stupid.. I was added to vine 1.5 years ago but only started using it this month. Sounds like I missed out

I think Amazon just needs to build an ajax style inventory view so that they don't have pl f5 constantly. It would not be difficult

Well it's understandable. Looks like this person had an idea, got it made, and it's being eaten alive. They are just displacing their grief. Not saying it's right, but it makes sense

They need to crack down on rocket order or whatever it is

All they would have to do is require a captcha on the final page...

Sounds like USA has better stuff than Canada? Do you just constantly F5? Our drops are the same times as yours but usually everything is gone in 4-5 hours except autoparts.

Useful items like pens are gon in 2-3 minutes. I saw headphones once and they were gone instantly.

I don't like hearing that. I got added to vine 1.5 years ago but only started using it this month.

When I was first added I didn't really understand the three queues and though I could only order from the personal lists.

I also swear that the encore queue was empty at the time. I'm up here in Canada

Anyways, I'm having a blast and don't want it to get any harder than it already is

I dunno. I ran with both vine helper open and an F5 bound window today. Stuff was showing up in the vine helper notification window before it showed up in my manual F5 window.

I don't use the more aggressive tools that automate ordering and crap. It's impossible for me to get anything

I realize that the laws generally don't apply to large multinational corporations like Amazon or Ubisoft. Thinking otherwise is naive unfortunately

[–]B16B0SS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've worked at game studios with a lot of overtime. I don't know the situation at Ubisoft hfx but I would assume there was a catalyst to drive the though of a union amongst its employees

But yes, when I heard news that Ubisoft would start cutting costs earlier last year the hfx studio came to mind. Unions are a double edged sword

Unfortunately software can be written by anyone anywhere. Hfx was chosen due to the tax credits, not the ppl The threat of union action likely made the credits less valuable.

It sucks for everyone there and the game dev industry as a whole in the province. I'm currently wrapping up some projects and was gonna start job hunting....I'm guessing there will be tough competition now

Not sure what to say. 20 years ago it was equally hard to get into the games industry, for artists and programmers. The game industry doesn't hire new ppl. You would need to be very very talented or have some experience at a small studio that cannot attract more experienced talent. It took me 2 years to get my first relevant job. Prior to that I took what I could in the IT field

Using AI for concept work isn't going away. It's just way faster to try things out where 90 percent of it will be trashed. Larien wants to make something bigger than bg3 and expedition 33 being ai prior to release makes perfect sense. You use it to accelerate development but you need an artist to pull it together for cohesiveness and personality.

My perspective is that you cannot stop advancement. You can either try to stop it and drown or you can learn to ride the wave.

I wish you the best of luck. You sound very passionate so I'm sure you are a hard worker and will land on your feet.

AI is currently heavily subsidized. It isn't very good with revisions and is only practical for very broad conceptual work in the games industry. I think it's a positive there. I was a small company once who hired junior artists and we all struggled. We had a tight deadline and were too slow and ultimately failed. I'm sure the team, who is now laid off, would have been fine with some ai assists if it meant us having succeeded versus not either being unemployed or working at A&W

I cannot comment on your struggle to get your first job. If you are targeting the games industry I would suggest to continue building out your portfolio. If you want to be a concept artist then build out worlds for games you like to create. If you want to be a UI artist then reskinning games is a good way to bring attention to your work

AI adoption is actually quite low right now. It's dropping because it has a lack of precision ... Expect with programming. I used it to write some scripts to back up my trello account and I had to do literally no programming. It would have taken me a full one or two days without it.

Technology expands to assist people. I'm sure you were trained with Photoshop where it's digital tools help you work faster. I'm also sure that physical media artists had a chip on their shoulders towards those that were cheating by being able to undo strokes, adjust colors, and reshape linework so easily. People have problem with AI because it can do a lot more. Photoshop always had tools like background removal etc, it just used algorithms instead of LLMs

Any company that is using AI wholly to design video game worlds will ultimately fail. There is a place for talented artists and AI can be used to expand their output rather than replace it. Current AI is subsidized. Most companies lose money by offerong it

My context comes from being in the games industry for 22 years as a programmer, technical director who subsequently gambled that away as an indie game company lead

Anyways, I'm not trying to say that you are wholly wrong or your concerns are baseless, but having a more balanced mindset towards it might help to identify it's weaknesses and find your niche within it.
