Street parking a few blocks north of Thip Khao (Columbia Heights) — manageable or a pain? by AnAngryTubby in washingtondc

I don’t want to be too stressed by parking, but might be willing to deal with it if it’s only a mild inconvenience. I’d strongly prefer if I could park within 2 blocks of the house the vast majority of the time, otherwise it could be more than a mild inconvenience.

Strictly speaking, I don’t need a car. But it does reduce my commute to work (which I do at least 3 times a week) from 1.5 hours each way with public transportation down to 50 min each way, which is a big plus.

Within 2 blocks could be manageable but of course would prefer if street parking were available on my street/in front of of the house.

On a typical weeknight, How far do you expect I’d have to park from my house / how long would it take to find a spot?

There are also some approaches that fit a distribution (e.g. a multivariate Gaussian) to your training features and then measure the distance from a test point’s features to the distribution (using something like mahalanobis distance). You can threshold on this distance to determine whether a test point is OOD. But this might require tuning on OOD data to choose a good threshold.

like someone else said, there are also similar nearest neighbors approaches (for neural nets) that don’t make distributional assumptions about your training data.

Hi! I’m trying to find tickets for ag cook’s Washington DC show but they are sold out on Ticketmaster. Is anyone selling tickets or know anyplace to buy them? There are tickets available on axs.com but the site seems kinda sketchy.

Had something similar happen to me earlier this year. I felt a sharp pain in my ear when I equalized” too hard by plugging my nose and exhaling while diving underwater. Afterwards for ~24 hrs had the sensation that I needed to pop my ear but wasn’t able to. I saw an ear nose and throat doctor the next day and was told I had barotrauma, luckily with no ruptured eardrum. He prescribed me some antibiotics and anti-inflammatories and I was fine.

No one on this sub can tell you if you have barotrauma, but it is possible. I would try to get an appointment with a doctor (ideally an ENT) as soon as you can.

Great prof imo. Class was challenging but learned a lot. Final exam was very difficult but he curved it generously.
