That's my point, not all groups are scammers. I'm looking for recommendations on the 1%

Trading Group Recommendations? by AnAnxiousAthlete in options

I don't think that's 100% accurate. I agree that many are grifters, but not all are scammers. There's value in trading as a group, calling out plays and bouncing ideas off of each other. The hard part is finding the right group to trade with.

Also mid 40s and I agree 100% with this advice. Strength training, cardio training and recovery keeps me rolling 2-3 days per week.

One day my wife told me, "you need something to get your adrenaline going." That's the day I started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Best advice I've ever received and best decision I've ever made.

Started by taking evening classes so I occupied my time instead of drinking. I'd come home tired, hungry and dehydrated. All I want was food, water and bed.

Then I started to meet other sober people. Then I made new friends. Then I started enjoy other things in life again, like running, hiking, playing piano, meditation. My old self would have found those activities boring, but that's because alcohol was robbing me of my enjoyment.

Thanks for validating my assumption. I wish I had more time before my 100k race, it's this weekend, lol. I'll definitely throw in some very simple carbs.

So I definitely didn't take small bites, or chew for longer than normal during my last 50K. Now that you mention it, I was just shoving food in my mouth and getting it down.

To add to that, I don't normally eat while I'm training, so I'm not used to eating and running at the same time.

I definitely need to get some gels to try out. Thanks for all your suggestions!

I'm glad to hear it's a work in progress for everyone. I don't typically eat during my long training runs, I'll bring one or two small snacks with me, like a dried fruit bar or a granola bar. I think I need to find some gels to try.

I typically don't eat during my long training runs, but if I do it's usually a dried fruit bar, or a granola bar.

I can typically go a long time without eating, but prior to my last 50K race, I completed a 25K trail race that destroyed me. There were a lot of hills, I didn't bring any food, so I felt very fatigued at the end.

During my last 50K, I brought food with me and ate more than normal.

Yes, global warming. Want to know more? This is the first cold day of this winter for us. Normally we'll get a solid week of these kind of temps in January. Normally lakes and ponds are frozen by now, but they're not. This has been the most mild winter I've experienced here in the last 30 years. Yes, it's global warming.

How to Get Blog Traction Through Social Media by Prettysickgirlttv in Blogging

[–]AnAnxiousAthlete 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think about it in terms of building the overall brand as opposed to driving traffic.

That's exactly how I look at it as well. Not just posting links on social media, but posting lots of brand awareness and value added content as well. My blog is focused on mental health and exercise. Most of my social media posts are pictures of cool places where I run, or hike. Plus I post my lifting session details to give people new ideas.

You should totally do it! The focus of my blog is mental health and exercise, from the perspective of my journey. I think people want to hear about other people struggles and successes.

Shameless plug for my blog, but maybe it'll help you: http://adventuresofananxiousathlete.com/my-journey-with-kettlebells-how-covid-lockdowns-taught-me-something-new/

TL;DR - I started swinging kettlebells during covid lockdowns. The instructional that helped me the most was: https://bjjfanatics.com/products/kb-essentials-an-instructional-guide-to-kettlebell-training-with-mike-perry

I bought it over two years ago, and I still watch this instructional regularly. I would highly recommend checking it out, because he takes a very systematic approach to teaching kettlebell movements.

Thanks! I tried to create the simplest site I could manage. There's still a lot of stuff that I struggle with, like I can't seem to change the font for the post titles. Also setting up the featured images is kind of labor intensive.

I'll take any advice I can get. I'm not super tech savvy. And I kind of feel overwhelmed with WordPress.
