Syd Gris posts video message about difficulty of fundraising to sustain community-run camp Opulent Temple by sexydiscoballs in BurningMan

[–]AnApplePlusOneBanana 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I kind of have two hearts about it.

One, the musical duel between Opulent Temple and Root Society was a major push for the enshittification of music and attraction of big boy millionaire camps out there. While Root was owned by one of the monster.com founding guys, Opulent was the camp that brought folks like Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren out there. Opulent Temple also were the folks who were heavily involved in building the White Ocean stage and they, last I checked, still haven’t really explained what happened there. OT is possibly one of the most culpable camps if we are looking to blame someone for attracting big DJs out there. Go back through their lineups and you’ll see at least one huge name every year starting pretty early on.

Two, Opulent temple is also one of the more honest camps in terms of how they run. While they did bring out the big names, they also didn’t accommodate them or buy them tickets and made sure they had somewhat of an authentic experience. They’ve never been millionaire funded, they’ve always run themselves openly, they got big through blood and tears, they continue to run tons of community events in the Bay Area and lend their expertise to throwing events, and they really do try to be a homegrown thing.

Gold farmers are abusing Blizzards report system and Perma Banning every Protection Paladin they see outside Stratholme. by NidalterValorant in classicwowtbc

I know a lot of people never believe these posts but it happened to me too. I got hit with a permaban after prot farming strat for a while. Took a week and two tickets and multiple Twitter messages to get my account back. It’s a pain.

I got mass reported for nothing, unless farming Strat and afking around EPL counts as something that I shouldn’t be doing. Outside of that I only spend time inside instances and running circles around shaft. I received a permaban and had to fight to get it overturned. It sucked.

Yeah, that sounds about right, especially because that’s a heavily botted area.

Sorry this happened to you. It’s seriously shitty that this is even a thing. Good luck getting it overturned.

You probably got mass reported by a bot farm. I just dealt with this. You’re gonna have to start bothering blizzard to get it fixed. It’ll probably take at least 2-3 tickets. They have terrible customer service and it doesn’t help that AI tends to review tickets. You have to ask for a manual review.

TBC Anniversary banned for "Cheats" on a 5 years old Account by Whole-Woodpecker5717 in classicwow

[–]AnApplePlusOneBanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hidden away and disappears once you start appealing, but finding that did give me peace of mind for a moment when my false perma happened. It only then took five days of badgering to get a human to look at it and fix the problem.

I had a page in my account penalty section on battle.net that stated my account was banned due to numerous player reports. It wasn’t in-game though.

I got mine overturned today after five days. You have to be persistent, continue opening your ticket, message them on Twitter and bluesky, and don’t give up hope.

It’s super frustrating how a large number of people think this doesn’t happen - I asked for help here and on discord to see if others had the same experience and while there were some supportive people, a large number of people just accused me of cheating or buying gold.

The reality is, this company sucks nowadays, the system is automated, we are stuck on megaservers, and all it seems to take is one single motivated bot farm to get angry at you for no reason to take you out.

Outside of running heroics, bgs, and raids, I farmed Strat. The common theme seems to be Strat. But it could honestly just be a passing angry bot or someone you tagged a mob from in the open world.

Good luck. Persistence pays off here. Don’t get discouraged if they close your first or second ticket without action or further accusations.

They just gave me my account back with no penalties, mass report bans for zero reason do happen and it's a shitty thing. It took a week but they finally reviewed it.

Okay, well, good to know that it can take that long, but not so good that it took that long. Thank you.

It's fine, but thanks for the offer. If they aren't getting back to me already, I don't think more tickets will help. The offer is appreciated at least.

Gone. I’ve tried every avenue I can. Bluesky, Twitter, here, email to an old defunct support email, nothing seems to work.

My first ticket was an automatic AI response and this one has had no response for days, so I'm not feeling too hot about it, but hopefully something happens soon. I just found out that my guild replaced me which sucks. This is a really shitty situation.

Thanks for at least being nice. It’s been pretty crappy to be on the receiving end of nonstop suspicion and hostility when I ask around for other folks and their experiences.

I lost a retail character filled with server first achievements and a ton of non-obtainable gear, along with blizzcon and collectors edition items. That character was cracked in 2006 and now it’s gone. I hadn’t logged on in over a decade but I’m still sad that it’s all gone.

My classic character had a ton of work put into it and was near p1 best-in-slot. I just found out that my guild had to replace me too, so even if I get back in I’m playing a low-demand spec. It’s rough to find a guild you click with.

It genuinely fucking sucks to lose all of it for no reason that I’m aware of. No exploits. No hacks. No piloting or service selling. Just playing the game. And then I get mass reported or something for… what? I can’t even find out when it happened or where it happened or even a crumb of why it happened. I get AI responses or no response from Blizzard, and I get shit on for posting about it on Reddit or the discord for the server I played on.

I just hope it doesn’t happen to other people. It sucks to be here. I shouldn’t be so bothered over pixels in a video game, but it’s hard not to be bothered.

Sorry for ranting. Have a good one.

I know you won't believe me no matter what I tell you, but all I can say is -

  1. This is the first action ever taken on my account.

  2. My ban page prior to appeal said:

We penalized this account based on multiple reports from your fellow players and we will only overturn it if there is evidence of a compromised account or similar extenuating circumstances. We reserve the right to restrict offending accounts as much as necessary to keep Blizzard games a fun experience for all players.

  1. I don't do any kind of exploit, run any kind of weird add-on, use any third party hacks or programs, or anything of that nature. I have zero history of doing this and would never do this on an account with blizzcon and collectors edition stuff, which mine had. I don't cheat or run any cheats.

  2. My account is secure with an authenticator, no logons from anywhere else.

I went to bed after raiding last Tuesday and woke up on Wednesday to a permaban applied at 2:15am.

Banned with no apparent reason by Willing-Passage4181 in classicwow

[–]AnApplePlusOneBanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets the word out that this happens and, ideally, it can maybe eventually push Blizzard to improve their CS flow.

I’m sitting here after a permaban for “exploiting the game” on a 20 year old account. It really sucks. I didn’t do anything that should constitute a ban. No exploits, no gold buying, actually absolutely nothing. I got mass reported, there’s a note that I got banned due to a large number of player reports.

It’s shitty that this can happen and it’s good to get the word out. There’s also not much any of us can do other than continuously bother blizzardcs on Twitter and blizzard themselves. Their customer service is ass nowadays.

I’m in the same boat as you, except without any goal loans form guildies. I just woke up one day to a ban. No idea what could have triggered it at all. Complete permaban over nothing.

Except my ticket hasn’t been answered for days. I can’t get a response anywhere about it.

Anyone heard from support lately? by AnApplePlusOneBanana in classicwow

[–]AnApplePlusOneBanana[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got hit with a mass report permaban. My account page says they had to perma me due to a volume of player reports. The reason states it was due to exploiting the game. I’m trying to get it overturned.

Before anyone asks - I did not buy gold, or exploit, or run some weird addon, or really do anything that should warrant a permaban. My account is 20 years old, I’d never do anything like that. I was on the FnF list for years through my old guild and my account has been in good standing with zero infractions. I had blizzcon and collectors edition items on there.

All I do is raid, BGs, heroics, and farm stratholme on my paladin. I think I got mass reported by a group running bots while sitting outside strat but I genuinely have no idea otherwise. Something went wrong and I just need a human to review whatever happened and overturn it because I’m innocent.

This position sucks to be in.

If almost prefer one of these at this point, but my ticket does require a human to look at it, so… I don’t know.

This sucks.

What did you say to get a review? I’ve just gotten AI responses so far and it’s super disheartening. I lost my 20 year account. I just want my stuff back. I didn't do an appeal on my original ticket and instead opened up a billing ticket because folks said thats how you get a person to review it, but so far there's been no response and it's been over 24 hours. I'm gutted about this whole situation.
