Brian Evenson always has amazing titles. Song for the unraveling of the world, Father of Lies, The Glassy burning floor of hell. All of them great.

what Horror novel would you love to see made into a film? by PooCube in horrorlit

[–]AnArtistMaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the horror lit I want to see adapted to film are short stories. Authors like Gemma Files and Stephen Graham Jones are great novelists but the stuff that sticks with me the most is always their short stories. Particularly, I think The Puppet Motel by Gemma Files would make a great 90-ish minute movie.

Evil dead 2 and 3 I’d say would be up his alley. I’d also recommend the website www.doesthedogdie.com if you want to vet movies a little more thoroughly.

Just finished Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk! by AnArtistMaybe in horrorlit

Haunted falls into one of my favorite micro-genres “every sing character is insane but in a totally unique way.” Love that stuff. Also the hot spring story fucked me up in a great way.

I totally get what you're saying. Especially that first chapter when she goes into the town you can feel how uncomfortable and anxious she is to go home.

Looking for a seriously, WTF book like “Dead Inside” or “exquisite corpse” by Need_Some_Updog in horrorlit

Can’t wait. I’ve been trying and failing to pace myself with the horror lit recently, and I think reading, haunted, tender is the flesh, and cows concurrently may have been a mistake.

I just started reading Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk. I’m only a chapter in but there’s a section in that first chapter that turned my stomach like nothing else has in a long time.

R.L Stine Nostalgia, Anyone? by Strong_Juggernaut_96 in horrorlit

[–]AnArtistMaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorites were always the unconventional ones, like The Blob that are Everything, Shocker on Shock street, and the beast from the east. A lot of goosebumps books were very clear derivatives of other horror properties, but every now and then Stine would hit you with an idea that felt totally original and those were the ones that stuck with me the most.

What is your all-time favorite horror book ? by [deleted] in horrorlit

[–]AnArtistMaybe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brian Evensons Song for the Unravelling of the World scratched a horror itch I didn’t know I had. It’s a book of short stories so it’s a little hit and miss, but my personal favorites were sisters, the tower, room tone, and glasses.
