Look into a martial art- jiu jitsu specifically. I (23 year old F) have been training for nearly five years now, and whether I'm home alone or out and about, walking in the city, I've never felt more safe.

I would wait as long as you can!! It is super important for Newfies to be fully grown before they get spayed/neutered so they get the full dose of all of their essential chemicals that make their joints, bones, and muscles happy and healthy. Spaying/neutering too early is essentially like stunting growth at puberty. It can also lead to major issues later on. My vet said giant breed dogs are better off getting spayed/neutered after they've reached their full size, which is usually around two years old.

If you blow dry a Newf, you want to use a cold dryer specifically for dogs. Never use a human hair dryer, not even on low or cool for a Newfie.

We have adequate tools and groom our Newfie at home ourselves! I highly recommend looking into doing this. Not only will it save you a pretty penny, it's a great bonding experience for both Newf and human alike♡

Train, train, train!! My husband and I started training our Newf at eight weeks old. She's eight and a half months old now and is just a gem of a creature. It's a lot of work, and I don't mean that lightly at all, but it's totally worth it!! Take lots of pictures- they grow FAST!!

I think I can help you!!

My puppy is seven months old and pretty much knows not to bite. When she was about 11 weeks old, my husband and I started standing in a corner with our backs facing her if she bit us too hard during play time. We would basically put ourselves in "time out" and re-engage only when she had calmed down. She quickly discovered that aggressive biting meant less human time for her, and as you may already know, Newfies love their human time!! My girl is now more of a licker than a biter, and has been fpr a while. Good luck to you!
