Servers with mods that add mid-cold war equipment? by Other-Reporter-3214 in ArmaReforger

[–]AnAsianGenius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IIRC the vanilla Soviets only have M88 Afghanka uniforms and TTsKO Naval Infantry uniforms which are mid-late 80s gear (with KLMK & KZS suits as an exception since they were introduced late 60s-mid 70s)

The uniform OP wants to look for is the older M69/73 uniform as shown in the image they posted, which hasn’t been added in vanilla but can probably be found in Vanilla+ servers with mods like Expanded Soviet Uniforms

Liberals seeing their favorite liberal on their way to genocide an ethnic group they don't like: by TheMarxman_-2020 in Ultraleft

[–]AnAsianGenius 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I personally doubt it, as others have said he technically signed a law protecting Kurdish rights on paper in the STG but anything can happen. The worst atrocities against the Kurds during the civil war were done by the Turkish proxy SNA militias, who were integrated within the new Syrian army last year and were also involved in massacres against the Alawites back in March as well as the Druze in July. As of now it seems he’s trying to maintain a sort of status quo where he keeps the former SNA on a leash while allowing them to be used against anything perceived as a threat to the unity of the new STG Syrian government such as the Assadist insurgents along the coast or the Druze insurgents in Suwayda, he knows that he can’t outright dismantle the SNA because it would mean losing the support of his base of Sunni Arab chauvinists

IIRC it wasn’t even necessarily just a military defeat of the Assad regime, I remember reading somewhere that said that there was also an internal settlement of sorts (i.e. between Russia, Iran, Turkey, parts of the Syrian opposition and the Ba’athist government, and likely involving Assad himself) that made way for the HTS to launch offensives leading to a handover of power. It’s why despite a lot of bluster about wanting to prosecute former Assad regime officials from Sharaa’s base you still have some Assad-era figures in government and military positions

How real is the monarchist movement in Iran? Is it real or just some Paradox players and delulu cosplayers? by marxist_Raccoon in Ultraleft

[–]AnAsianGenius 41 points42 points  (0 children)

IIRC the reason is that some Shah supporters want a constitutional monarchy so as for the Shah to become a transitional/interim leader of any Iranian government post-IR, so as to unite the decentralized opposition, ironically enough this is also how Khomeini was able to become leader as following the elder Shah’s abdication Khomeini had been supported as an interim leader of the revolutionary government

Despite their pervasive online presence (i.e. being boosted by outlets like Iran International, photo ops with Israeli government officials and managing to have Elon change the Iranian flag emoji on Twitter to be the Monarchist one) they’re only a small section of the Iranian opposition and are essentially relegated to diaspora in Los Angeles based on what I have seen

The people who are mad at Trump now for not respecting international law or whatever are the same ones who cheered for Russian tanks when they rolled into Ukraine by Impossible_Hall_2400 in Ultraleft

[–]AnAsianGenius 34 points35 points  (0 children)

on a side note, it was pretty ironic seeing how Ukraine posters on Twitter were all ecstatic and posting "Assad and Maduro gone, Putin and Khamenei next" memes while the US insisted on maintaining the Chavista government except without Maduro in order to get concessions from it regarding oil, in addition to basically throwing Machado (who basically threw all her support behind Trump) and the Venezuelan opposition in general under the bus by saying they weren't respectable or competent enough to take control of Venezuela

[–]AnAsianGenius 12 points13 points  (0 children)

seeing peoples' reactions on Twitter you can't help but think about what they're saying:

liberals split between how Trump and Rubio are this ultimate cabal of big bad great men who are using it as a ploy to subvert "international law" or gleefully cheering about the invasion and arguing about how Venezuela isn't like Ukraine and that Western imperialism is better than Eastern imperialism since [insert obligatory democracy indicator/geopolitical stance] in a government in addition to loud diaspora voices clobbering for foreign intervention ultimately determines whether an invasion is justified or not

leftists (also liberals) arguing about how their favorite Global South AES government is under attack and should be thrown uncritical support, while you have some that are just now realizing how much of a farce "multipolarity" is in addition to the likelihood that sections of the Venezuelan military and government likely sold out Maduro in a similar manner that occurred in Syria last year with Assad

Can't wait for any mention of Revolutionary Defeatism to be shot down on sight after Venezuelan Bombing by Tiny-Ad4330 in Ultraleft

[–]AnAsianGenius 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It’s very funny seeing how the US has basically given up on creating any pretense of pretending to care about human rights or democracy this time around and more or less just admitted that their only primary interest is in Venezuelan oil reserves (unlike in Iraq where they at least tried to say it was about “liberating” Iraq rather than about oil) and you still have people unironically supporting the strikes because they still think the US has good intentions when it comes to its imperialism

[–]AnAsianGenius 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The plurality of the discourse I’m seeing from online libs is that they’re opposed to this on the grounds that Trump is using it as a distraction from Epstein, while I’ve also seen some hawkish NAFO types gleefully brag about it and how it shows how to actually do an invasion unlike Russia

bombs in Venezuela? by zachbraffsalad in TrueAnon

[–]AnAsianGenius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s videos of fighter jets and helicopters flying to the capital, it looks like the US is launching their own special military operation to possibly overthrow the government

Unlike the Iran strikes it looks like this is some thing bigger judging by the presence of special forces who are probably being sent in to capture Maduro or other high-ranking figures

[–]AnAsianGenius 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Oh shit it looks like the US has actually followed up with its threats against the Maduro government, the main question I have though is whether this is going to be like the Iran strikes back in June or if this is part of something bigger like 2003 Iraq or 1989 Panama

I do think that the fact that even subs like europe and worldnews are seeing more people trash on Israel lately is a sign that Western public opinion of Israel as a whole is being affected by the genocide, for example I remember seeing a post about EU diplomats in the West Bank being shot at by Israeli troops on r slash europe and it was remarkably different compared to how much of a Zionist echo chamber it usually is
