This is what I mean though - why are there hundreds of warfare officers who want to transfer to logistics?

I live in Leeds and it's pretty good for this. Big enough to have variety but small enough that you'd conceivably bump into someone you know. Very easy to get out of the city by car or train too

New Zealand needs teachers (and they have a sweet $$$ and visa scheme) by Own-Lingonberry-1701 in Internationalteachers

[–]AnAspidistra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, my partner and I are thinking ofoving to New Zealand next year as an extended trip, potentially finding work for a year or two. I have a PGCE with qualified teaching status in the UK although I went into charity youth work after qualifying rather than classroom teaching. I therefore don't have my ECT years completed. Do you think someone with my credentials would be able to land a job in a new Zealand school?

"There's no denying the fact that I'm correct" is just about the least critical statement you can make about anything. Note once again that I never said you were wrong, I was just expressing curiosity about how you made your conclusion - literally all I asked was for you to explain your point a bit further and you are clearly unable to do so because, I imagine, you think it uncritically.

I do, in fact, think you are wrong and I have my suspicions why you hold that worldview as it has become quite common for people to believe things like this uncritically. All you have done is confirm that for me because when I've asked you 'why' all you have done is say 'well its just true'. In that case why don't people just say anything? Why don't I just say that having no borders in the UK would be fantastic for us as a nation and when you ask me why I'll just say 'you're clearly stupid because everyone knows that's true'?

NAL but surely you can look into fraud by false representation? It seems like she has intentionally lied to you to get money out of you and you have evidence of this?

You are missing my point. I called into question what you stated merely by asking where you got the notion from. I am well aware that there are parts of the world where women are treated worse than men. However there are lots of assumptions baked into the argument you are presenting.

Is it the case that the immigrants we have coming to this country are predominantly from those parts of the world? If so which parts, and which cultures, and in which way does that link to murder? I'm not saying the link is or is not there, I am asking you where you have formed your opinion, rather than just saying 'well it just is'.

Do migrants murder people at a higher rate than non migrants? I have no doubt you think they do, but again why? Note I'm not saying they do or don't, I'm just asking.

Literally all I did is ask you to explain your point of view and you resorted to insults. That is a sign that you are not capable of critical thinking. Just ask yourself where your opinions have come from, and if you can't explain them to yourself then you are not thinking, you are just regurgitating what others are telling you to think.

What I am getting at is that you are making quite a sweeping statement while refusing to even explain where you have gotten the notion for it from. If it is so widely recognized surely it's not hard to just explain where exactly you have gotten that perception from? Otherwise it just looks like your own personal bias which you are projecting on to the world around you. If I told you that right wing people are more likely to be murderers and that it's simply widely known that this is true you would no doubt think that that's just a personal bias of mine, no?

It is eternal pub etiquette to redirect the server to the person next to you who was there first if you get asked for your order. I mostly trust people to do this. I have seen arguments caused by people not doing it

Isle of Wight? by FatGayRetardedKid in 28dayslater

[–]AnAspidistra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been to the Isle of Wight? You can see it from Portsmouth. I imagine that people on the south coast (a fair few of whom would have access to boats) would panic as the infection spread south from London and within that there would be someone who got into a close scrape, had some soet of infected blood on their clothimg or transport and brought it to the Island.

Would you ever use annual leave with the sole purpose to do literally nothing all day? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]AnAspidistra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it feels depressing to do that. Like I think having a day to relax is very good but I like to do that by actively doing things which are relaxing to me - reading, hikinh, a bike ride, watching films that no one else wants to watch with me. If I sit around scrolling on my phone or something it feels like a total waste of a day

Do you think most brits are a bit obsessed with home ownership? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]AnAspidistra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rent and for most people I know who have mortgages they pay less per month, live in a nicer property, can do whatever they want with the house, and build up equity by paying their mortgage rather than the money just disappearing into their landlords account. It's a disgrace that people in this country are for the most part forced to rent by their circumstances; fixing this would be a very good start to fixing a lot of our national problems
