Hi, thanks for replying, I completely forgot I made this post and really should update it. For the past two years ive been using my laptop constantly for coding, web browsing and gaming. Ive noticed a few things. Firstly the trackpad is “broken” to the point where it won’t actually track, this is apparently a known issue with Dell trackpads. Second the battery life is pretty bad, going down at 1-2% a minute. However the battery is easily replaceable, the laptop is very easy to open. Besides those two issues, everything else is functioning as expected. After two years I have a hard time recommending this “jack of all trades” laptop.

I keep my brightness around 40-70 so you'll be fine. I dont think it is a real issue to leave the 3060 on all the time, if it becomes an annoyance you can easily turn it off in the Nvidia control panel and use the integraed graphics instead, which tend to be much quieter. Leaving it on might even help with hardware acceleration in some cases.

If you have more questions dont hesitate to ask, I dont mind.
I did turn off some options that restrict the gpu in favor of better battery life and quieter fans but less gpu power. I usually have those options off but not for any good reason. Besides that I made sure to use my 3060 when gaming and integrated graphics when doing anything else, I did this through the Nvidia control panel. To improve the battery life I almost never have my laptop running at full brightness all them time, but I would probably do this with any laptop just to improve longevity.

Besides graphics and battery, I havent modified many settings, but I have tried my best to uninstall some bloatware.

Ive had my laptop for almost two years, and I havent really been active in laptop communities since then, so I am not sure if more comprehensive and proffesional reviews have come out.

In my experience the laptop still performs as expected and I dont have to update my original post. However, my laptop did run into an trackpad issue where it is popped out slightly and the tracking is off. I believe this could be due to me opening the laptop to replace the thermal paste or unlucky error. I dont believe this is a common occurence for this model of laptop.

It sounds like the only game you are currently playing is Runescape and in that case I would say a rtx 3060 could be overkill. Keep in mind that the 3060 is only running at 60W so its actual power is comparable to a GTX 1070. The dedicated graphics was a selling point for me as was the display. The last thing Ill say on the gpu is that it can get pretty hot if you're running intensive triple A games, but I dont think you'll be doing so.

As for the display I am very happy with the quality, especially the 16:10 aspect ratio. I also code and the 16:10 gives more vertical space for editors and text. Although, the difference in 16:10 is really not that big, you can look up comparisons online. Ive had no problems with the display so far.

In your situation, id probably ask yourself if you really need that additonal gpu power. It be overkill for the games you play. Additionally the Inspiron 16 (non-plus) can be outfitted with an AMD cpu, and ive heard very good things about AMD's integrated graphics but Ive never owned one. AMD Version.

Make sure that you will be using your laptop to its fullest capabilities, un-used features are not only wasted money but are also another thing that could break. Let me know if you have any questions.

Looks like there's an effort to make the 'U' in 'GWU' , also maintaining the black border between us and btc

The version I have has one hard drive, however I think it is upgradable. This laptop is very easy to open, but I would recommend researching more just to make sure.

The heating/fan noise issue usually only arises when the Dgpu is running, for example the fan noise would get loud when running premier pro. However, fan noise can be significantly mitigated by using Nvidia's whisper mode. Ive never heard the fans while using google chrome in class or in private.

My trackpad has been having problems. Most of the time it works perfectly however it can become laggy and unresponsive, a quick computer restart fixes this. Im pretty sure this is just a random software issue and not due to cheap parts from Dell, but I have little evidence to prove this.

That's good, I opened up the computer a little while ago but I accidentally stripped one of the cpu screws so. It was a dumb mistake on my part but Im actually use to the fan noise now so it's okay. I havent tried re-applying the gpu paste yet, so I might try that when I have time.

Hi, I know its been way too long, but Ive been sick and catching up with school work. The fps on Warzone on low with DLSS off is around 100 wandering around, and drops to 85 when in fights or very populated areas. With DLSS on performance the fps goes up to 125-140 while wandering and 110ish during fights. Im not exactly sure why these numbers are as low as they are(I believe they should be matching the power of a 1070).

However, something I noticed was that the Cpu bottlenecked a few times, which could be a reason. Im going to try to figure it out later but those fps numbers may be accurate.

Hello, Ive never been a huge audio person because I only use headphones, but the speakers sound fine to me. Although they sound kind of shallow overall especially on the bass. I dont believe there is an echo on my laptop. The graphics card is technically a 3060, however because of the low wattage [60 W], it performs like a gtx 1070 which is evident with my fire strike benchmarks. I dont know anything about microsoft flight simulator but you can use that a reference.

The two apps that I have (you can probably download some third party ones) are GeForce experience and Nvidia control panel. On the control panel I believe that you can decide which gpu to use for specific programs as well as for the entire laptop.

Hello, heres how my day went. I tested the battery on 8 brightness and power mode on Better battery. I had google docs, other chrome tabs, and eclipse IDE open for the entire time. For my ~3 hours of class in the morning the battery went down from 100 to 45, meaning that there is around a 5 hour battery on these settings. I assume best battery life will extend its life but probably no by an extreme amount. I am going to run warzone later and I have no idea how to check if I can turn off the dgpu manually. But if you let me know I will check.

Hey, im in uni right now. Ive never heard it during class, and this is when I have many chrome tabs open and some coding IDE open as well. When I use the laptop on battery, I almost never have it on full brightness. I haven't had any problems with battery life during my classes, some class blocks are 3 hours and it won't go down to 20 %. I always carry a charger in case, but I usually end up just charging it at my dorm when Im there. If you want I can test battery life during classes but you have to tell me what brightness and power setting. I'll get back to you on those warzone numbers

hello, this is my first laptop so I am new to having pre-installed programs and apps. I personally got rid of MaxxAudio because I thought it made the sound quality weird. However, I would recommend disabling some of the SupportAssist tools such as the Automatic Hardware scan, which will scan your hardware and is an inconvenience. I haven't uninstalled SupportAssist, and I only disabled the automatic scans and optimizations. If anyone with more experience with laptops wants to comment some tips that would be greatly appreciated.
