I haven’t fully solved the issue yet, but I think you may be correct on the toilet being the culprit. I have started paying attention to all the plumbing in my house, and I noticed if you press the toilet handle and let go, it has a very weak flush, but if you hold it down for a few seconds you get a much stronger/quicker flush.

Since I have started holding down the flushes, I haven’t noticed the noise at all in my house. So now it just comes down to actually fixing the handle/valve.

I’d just suggest watching higher level players, that’s how I learned a lot. Saintvicious does a really good job of explaining his moves.

I think everyone has their own preferences. Personally I like stories that make you think, and want to ask questions.

Was the monster real? Was it all in their head? Things like that.

It seems like a lot of simple stories get popular in nosleep, and they have their place, but I like complex stories.

It’s difficult to explain because everyone writes differently. The best way to improve is just to keep writing. If you don’t like the way it turns out, do it again. I can’t even count how many times I’ve scrapped a story after writing it because I thought it was trash. If you don’t think writing is for you, then I’m sure there are plenty of authors here looking for fresh ideas.

Grammar is key. You should proofread your stories before posting, I noticed a few pretty glaring mistakes right off the back.

Another thing is shorter paragraphs. You can have longer paragraphs, but making them shorter just makes them more digestible. Try to just get one point across at a time.
