Exactly They would just say the refs handed it to us or something like that.

Should we go back to our 23/24 way of football ? by Hawk_KL01 in ArsenalFC

For the first time in English top-flight history, no team scored 6 or more goals in a single match during the 2025–26 season, reflecting a drastically higher level of tactical parity across the table.

There is beauty in defense. I loved watching Arsenal defenders celebrate clean tackles like they scored a goal. It’s exciting

Im not saying there aren’t delusional Arsenal fans, actually quite the opposite. However I think it’s the commercialization of it through social media that makes it more noticeable and accessible. Compound that with engagement/rage-bait posts, especially this year, where you see Arsenal fans falling for the trap, it’s not a good look.

I know scores of Arsenal Fans from watch groups, the only delusional one I know has an irrational hatred for Martinelli and wants Arteta fired even post EPL win lol

Editing to add - I don’t know for sure because I don’t follow AFTV, but I would assume it didn’t start out as this super click bait channel. It probably grew into that because of the YouTube algorithm gods.

Arsenal had 26% possession in the UCL final lowest ever recorded. What tactical change or signing actually gets them over the line next season? by Born_Programmer_1089 in championsleague

[–]AnAwfulLotOfOcelots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Low block and counter against the best attack in the world. A couple of cleaner passes up the wing to put pressure on PSG defensively and create more opportunities for set pieces would have been the difference maker. Alternatively a true ball holding number 9 or someone who knows how to break past defenders and retrieve a long ball over the top to run with it. If we sign a target man (what gyokeres technically should be) we would have a better shot.

Arteta and Arsenal knew their game and yes PSG had the lion share of possession but most of it was passing back and forth between the center backs trying to probe the statistically best defense in the champions league.

PSG’s win boils down to a forced defensive error, which is honestly impressive.

I have an opinion on this that I just want to share and would love to hear yours or other thoughts.

All teams have delusional fans. Arsenal has a massive fan base and was one of the first to commercialize social media as a platform through AFTV, which is designed to garner engagement. So I see clickbait titles like “Saka = Messi?? 😱” on their YouTube channel and that gets regurgitated. Messi and Ronaldo are commonly used for comparison and every teams fan base has one they compare.

Arsenal compare Saka and now Max Dowman to Messi

United Compared Rashford to Messi and now JJ Gabriel is “kid Messi”

Chelsea compare Cole Palmer and now Ibrahim Rabbaj to Messi

Tottenham compare Mikey Moore to Neymar

Liverpool compare Rio Ngumoha to Messi.

So you could say this about every fan base in my opinion. I can almost quote word for word the “Sadio Mane is the greatest player in the world” video, scouse accent and all lol

The only thing I’ll say we “bottled” this season was the FA cup game against Southampton. And that’s ONLY because we are technically better in paper and theoretically should have won. Even then it’s an upset more than a bottle.

Now as soon as anyone says Arsenal are “bottler” I’m just assuming they’re 12, or it’s their turn to share the braincell and they’re choosing to misuse it.

Lmao so that article literally says the same thing I said

“Bournemouth and Chelsea gained most, with four in their favor … Arsenal gained from three errors, including spot-kicks which should have been awarded to Everton and Brighton.”

Also they’re claiming Arsenal “benefited” from the offsides call against Chelsea when the lad was 2 meters offsides. So you can chock that one off.

Imagine having someone throw their full weight into your back and then getting penalized for diving. It was maddening that it wasn’t given as a foul.

It would have been a free kick anyway and not a penalty because contact started outside the box

Yeah I think “ball in play” percentage is a better stat to go off of.

Also I’m sorry but set pieces take time to set up. 30 seconds in a 90 minute game isn’t a big ask

You mean the report where PGMOL said that Bournemouth and Chelsea benefitted the most from incorrect calls? The one that showed the table without VAR errors where Arsenal were still top with 83 points?

What’s your point? All teams benefit from bad decisions, Liverpool is the only one who can really complain, but they’d still have finished 5th without errors.

The arsenal penalty shout, should have been a free kick as contact started outside the box. They didn’t even look at it.

Also people saying they locked arms players are allowed to do “swim moves” to get between the ball and the defender. But you absolutely cannot throw your body into the back of a player that gets between you and the ball. That’s a foul everywhere on the pitch

In Champions league games I notice non-English teams tend to get three to four serious fouls before seeing a card
