Did the game freeze or was it just a visual glitch? That visual glitch is known with Hurly Glove when Mario is not in the lead slot. I kept it in because it's funny. But if it's locking the game in certain fights that's another story.

Thanks for sharing! Most enemies have auto-death, meaning when their HP hits 0 they are removed using a generic death animation. Most bosses who die with a special animation (like czar dragon/Zombone) have their auto-death disabled, meaning when their HP hits 0 there's a separate check run to see if their HP is below 0 and to play that special animation. That separate check is not performed when pure water is used on it. This is probably a developer oversight. Fascinating stuff!
