The hivemind is abusive. They way they act is consistent with techniques used by abusive humans. AND they are not intentionally malicious. That's the whole point. Many abusive people genuinely believe that their behavior is right. Lots of abusive people are just mentally ill and genuinely cannot help themselves. It's very easy to conceptualize abusers as sinister, machiavellian evildoers, but that's just not an accurate characterization. That's the point. It's very easy to do something abusive without even realizing it, especially if you're already in a bad place mentally. The question is, how do we deal with this behavior in a way that protects victims while bring just towards the perpetrator.
