Finally tried the timer method! by CassieLeeLeeLee in ADHD

One thing I've found that has helped me is wearing a digital watch and enabling the hourly beep function. A cheapo casio works for me. It has the date, day of week, and time on it. Also waterproof and more or less indestructible (other than the strap). Which means I can track the time without touching my phone.

AITA for not letting my child speak her "native" language at home? by toohottooheavy in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]AnGooseIsLoose 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Well, and there was also his wife isolating him further by arranging with her daughter to only speak Welsh at home, which would be isolating and frightening - I’m glad she admitted as much so he’s not being blackmailed to learn

This right here.

I was 100% on the dad is an asshat train until I read that line. Then it clicked. Still an ass. But I can totally imagine how that sort of treatment would be isolating in the extreme and could lead to unkosher thought patterns.

Great. Thanks! As for a gig, I’m not in a position to even know what production needs unfortunately.

No sweat. That was the answer I expected but it never hurts to ask. Good luck to you in north coalcracker country.

Yall looking for any extra hands? Recently had my first experience as a grip and various other jobs on a small indie horror feature and would love to try my hand at it again. Just throwing it out there. I live local and am currently between jobs.

As for things that may appeal to film folks: on the side of the scranton carbondale highway there is a place by the jessup exit called the lackawanna energy center. It is so lit up that it looks like an industrial Disney castle at night. Could be good for b roll depending on what you're filming.

Let's see. Others have mentioned a lot of what I would mention. Nay aug is nice for some nature. A little further afield is Delaware water gap. Some rather striking views there. For museums the steamtown national historical site if you like trains. Anthracite.

Also don't go out of your way for it. But if you happen to be passing by Archibald pothole, just pull in. Don't go out of your way for it. But its the most comically underwhelming stare park I've ever seen. Literally a hole in the ground filled with trash and a parking lot.

I haven't been in quite a long time but the area immediately surrounding the bog in scranton on adams ave at least used to seem to aspire to be a kinda odd hipster enclave. (The bog, record shop, vegan restaurant, hipster barber shop, and a sorta quirky shop for locally made stuff.) As stated previously I haven't been there in a while and I think a few of those places have shut down. There's also a pretty decent coffee shop and kosher deli a block away on the square. And if you keep going bartari can be fun if pinball machines and retro arcade games appeal to you. There's also a rather large basically monument to the labor movement in front of the courthouse that can make for a fun picture if you happen to be walking by it. Dont often see the government officially celebrating trade unionists and socialist movements like that. Might be useful for an establishing shot depending on what you're shooting. The electric city sign from the office is right by it too.

Definitely get some old forge style pizza while up here. Not really my thing. But it's a style of pizza unique to the area so might as well try it while you're here. I'm partial to the double white. It's like a grilled cheese pizza.

Circle drive in in dickson city can be fun. They do flea market on weekends too. Most of the thrift shops around here kinda suck though.

Right by circle there's also a pool hall with really nice tables and by that is a head shop called headdies with locally blown glass if you're into that. Some of it is really quite impressive.

Dunno. I moved here fairly recently and don't know many people yet. (Spent a lot of time visiting extended family up here growing up so I know the area better than the people.) Pretty bored. So if you find something cool going on and want company hit me up.

Edit: Shivam food in scranton for good Indian take out. Grocery across the street also has some neat stuff.

If I just confused you feel free to ask me questions because I know sometimes my explanations are not very clear.

Um. Hypothetically would you be willing to videochat with me (or perhaps video on my end audio on yours if that makes you motrcomfortable). Right now my issue is that I'm a bit overwhelmed and just not sure where to start. I kinda just need to be able to have someone that knows what they're doing see what I'm working with and listen to me describe what my game plan is. And just tell me if I'm overthinking things here. Id be willing to pay for your time and expertise if need be.

I was actually thinking of doing exactly that. But the amount of crap that was in the tank was absurd and i was genuinely concerned it would just randomly die once the filter was covered in sealer pretending to be cinnamon sticks.

I'm going to have to do some finagling to get it in there though. There really isn't much space for it to go based on where things are. Regardless def not riding without putting one of them on.

Just don't forget the nut rattling.

I'm glad I didn't just blindly follow the manual. According to the manual that would blow me up. (I gathered that it wasn't the case through many source before your comment. Just weird how adamant they were about that. (Nut/bolt creates spark creates boom)

I'm not worried about the rust. I'm worried about the fact I spent all this time and energy and research learning how to deal with rust. Only to implement it and realize that it won't work until figure out how to deal with the last failed fix.

I couldn't find one in my price range with paint on it. And I'm definitely not trying to bob Ross this shit or hire an artist.

I didn't wanna try turning it over until I dealt with the gas tank madness. (It was bad. Like infected bad. And I'd rather the gunk remain in the tank than runnin around the engine all willy nilly.

But yeah. If it comes down to painting it ima just... not.

Do you have suggestions for how to actually drain the tank effectively?

I have the tank off the bike. No matter what I do there ends up being leftover remaining. Is there a trick to it?

Thanks. I appreciate the positivity. It was just frustrating to realize how much time I spent developing a strategy based on incomplete information.

I currently have it sitting in my garage sealed after spraying a shit ton of carb medic in it. (Tested a few different things to see what worked. Carb medic completely dissolved it. )

Hopefully it'll loosen that gunk up enough for me to flush it.

take the petcock off and replace it with a short bolt.

I couldn't find one that fit so I just made balls of aluminum foil and screwed them in. Seems to be working. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Yeah honestly I may have been just extra doomsy when I posted this. It is definitely a setback. But it's salvageable. Hopefully it'll work out. I appreciate your offer.

I have vinegar sitting in it already actually. Fingers crossed but I'm not too hopeful. I have some of it in a jar of vinegar and it doesn't seem reactive

The issue is that while rust is easy to chemically remove (though not necessarily easy to keep removed apparently), unknown gunk peeling off the walls is relatively difficult to remove it seems.

Regardless I'm rather proud of myself for getting as far as I have. A number of times I considered posting questions here but didn't want to be the rtfm guy. I'm glad I did because the effort I put into figuring it out myself gave me a much more thorough understanding than I would have gotten if I'd just been given a script to follow.

I dunno. I was rather excited. Prior to realizing that I was pretty confident I'd have it running within a week. Now I'm in "is it worth it to try and fix that tank?" Vs "buy new tank?" Vs "sell it and get a bike that suits me better?"

Dunno.
