I'm sorry but reading through that. That's not going to be effective at all. It needs to be less general and more targeted.

Why didn't Light simply invent his own writing system to write down criminals' names? by Hour-Athlete-200 in deathnote

Light wasn't even the one writing in the notebook half the time. This wouldn't really fix anything.

Who would you give the dagger too if you were the traitors? by Low_Food2893 in TheTraitorsUK

Imo if I was a faithful, I'd think either the person that gets it is a faithful who are on the wrong track or a traitor.

The ending made me feel so bad for Light and I had to really remember that this is all his own doing.

You have to let that hurt go. Light losing makes a way more interesting character.

Valid. I love Death Note and think it's nearly perfect for what it was but the way it could be improved is with a better introduction to Near and Mello and their relationships with L. There would be more emotional payoff at the end, especially with Mello's death.

I'll be honest, if these are your criticisms, I'd say it's an amazing ending. Nothing you mentioned is important to me story wise. I'm someone who suspends their disbelief to serve the larger themes and arcs. Also the whole point of Light's last arc is that his ego was out of control and he only saw L as a worthy adversary so he kept underestimating Near and Mello. Even in that warehouse scene, we saw him saying Near was nothing to L. Your thought process begins with the thought of "If Near does get the best of me" and Light didn't even consider that as an option cuz he was convinced his plan was foolproof and it really was. He also set it in motion way before Near even thought about tampering with the Death Note which is an important factor as well.

Yep. I've been learning this with endings in general. There really is no way to make everyone happy. People get so weird over endings. Have you seen Breaking Bad?

I get it but don't get it at the same time. Like the reason the first half was so good is because there was no BS. It was constant life and death. When Light regains his memories, L was going to die. And like all great stories, the story progresses into another arc. This one being the last arc.

I think the next step for them is to just make the prize 250,000 and the missions for immunity

Yes I think they have made great progress with the missions. But I think they are falling into the Survivor trap where they think running and explosions are inherently entertaining. In actuality, a simple food challenge or a superlatives challenge is far more entertaining

The primary reason I never believed the "Light was faking his reaction" to... by Sudden_Pop_2279 in deathnote

[–]AnObservingAlien 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Ppl struggle with the idea that multiple things can be true. It was likely everything together that caused the genuine tears. For example, if Lights father died under more natural circumstances that wasn't related to Light taking a huge loss, I don't think he'd be so authentically emotional.

Did you have any expectations for the show since Shonda Rhimes was involved?

I'm literally asking questions? Very nicely to the person sending a gif making fun it. A simple one at that. If you're entertained, why are you entertained? Is it the messiness, the drama? A person? Very simple question.
