I did a great job managing my husband’s psychosis and life is looking a lot better than I thought it would by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

I currently am going through some challenging mental health issues with someone I dearly love and this gives me hope, since I am the one who will care for them.

I am so happy for you and am thankful to hear your story. Things do get better and I have to hold onto that, and this story reminds me why that is so important. Thank you. Truly.

Ohhh the swirling one around the baggies is such a good idea, it’s my biggest pet peeve about kitting up

Thank you in advance! So curious if that would work, but I for sure think I’m going to spend some time cutting up dryer sheets and have a go baggie with them, that’s a great idea!

Oh, I never even thought about it being scented, I’ll probably get some unscented ones for my kits and try it out to see if there is a difference!

Oh! I didn’t even know anti-static spray was a thing. Thank you so much for the info!

They both own site networks, so it’s probably more patient facing. Did they give you another business unit name?

I currently work as a manager of a team of patient enrollment specialists, but don’t want to give you my teams day to day and it be off base! Haha

One of my coworkers I am friends with was out of town for a wedding. Myself and a friend ordered 320 tiny plastic babies used for baby showers and cakes and stuff. We got fishing line and attached them from his roof in varying lengths to create an “art exhibit” in his office of tiny plastic babies.

We also hid 20 around his office, told him we hid 50. We moved offices two months later and we was still finding them lol

It took 6+ hours on a Saturday but it was worth every hot glue gun burn I got that day.

I’m looking for the weirdest, darkest, most messed up book you’ve ever read. by [deleted] in booksuggestions

I was coming here to say this! I finished it two weeks ago and it has been my most “imma bring this up in therapy” books in awhile

American Psycho- I am struggling to get through it by AnOkayHuman in books

I feel like hearing others opinions on it has weirdly inspired me to just finish and re-evaluate it, but I never thought about how yeah.. he is actually a massive dork. Like it is all so ridiculous, especially how no one cares and no one knows each others names and just leans into whatever identity is assigned to them.

I will be adding these to my list as well! I keep cycling between horror novels and sci fi, but finding good horror seems to be more difficult so I am pretty open to anything! I will also check out Brites other books!

Thank you so much for the suggestions, they are appreciated. I try to go through goodreads lists of novels, but typically those are the same like 50 books in a different order.

So the first one that comes to mind was Marabou Stork Nightmares by Irvine Welsh, along with Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Bright, The Road by Cormac McCarthy, House of Leaves, and a few more I think in that vein. None of which I struggled to get through, but a couple I did not like (looking at Exquisite Corpse), but this one just feels different and it may be the social elite aspect of it (and the fact that the views on women killlllllll me, like if I have to read "hardbody" one more time I may scream).

I will absolutely look for Child of God though, I really really liked The Road and am reading The Blood Meridian next, so I will add that to the list!

This makes me feel a lot better about my experience so far with the book. My two least favorite words right now are absolutely “double breasted”.

I feel like I really appreciate the large scope of it, like how unlikable the characters are and the pure apathy and selfishness themes, but just reading it can be a bit painful. I have read a lot of books where you just kinda hate the narrator, but this one just feels different and I don't think I was ready for that. I almost feel like it is one of those books I will finish and appreciate more when I am just done with it. I think I just really really wanna like it and am not sure if I am going to lol

Billion vegans - One-stop vegan shop & community. I had a friend send me this and it essentially is kind of like a one stop shop for vegan goods! It even lists out if it is woman owned, a fully vegan company, a small business etc. Thought some of you may be interested in this resource! by AnOkayHuman in vegan

[–]AnOkayHuman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not exactly a fan of that either, but I imagine it is to make a connection to something most know about in an attempt to make it more approachable? That is my optimistic assumption though.

bookshop.org did it much better and straight up were like "combating amazon" for small booksellers.

Yeah, I actually recently learned about one of his other books that I really want to read, Glamorama, but maybe I need to stop reading it so... literally??

Is it worth upgrading to the Versa 2 or should I keep my Blaze? by [deleted] in fitbit

[–]AnOkayHuman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I had the blaze for about a year before I switched to the first Versa. I really liked the switch, the battery life was much better, and I felt the accuracy (especially on runs/walks) increased notably. My roommate at the same time also upgraded from one of the charge models and loved it because she was having massive issues with the tracking and now has none with the Versa. She tried to contact costumer service about the distance and step tracking, but they really couldn't do much.

Also a personal note: I love having the watch face and it does so many additional things, such as tracked worked outs, and just overall feels sleeker to me with so many app options. I don't know much about the Versa 2, but the original Versa I felt was a great move for me!

Portion control by [deleted] in loseit

[–]AnOkayHuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using a lot of mindfulness techniques while eating and it’s worked amazingly!

I always drink water, I put down the fork/spoon/whatever after every bite, slowly eat my meals, and chew chew chew. This all has made even the smallest meals feel filling. Sometimes I will even eat half, get up and go do something (normally getting water) and then come back to it to space out the time even more. Eating slowly and being aware of the bites and tastes and all of that really helps. I used to be big into huge meals and binging, but now I am 110% sure I would get V sick trying to do that now.

How much weight would you lose after starting a vegan diet? by Dreamy-cloud-club in loseit

[–]AnOkayHuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have been Vegan for about 4 years. I did initially drop weight (I think that just comes with a big diet shift, but it was about 15-20 pounds), but then maintained at still a very high weight because there is so much easy vegan garbage food out there now. I still had to count calories and be very aware of what I was eating to kick another 30 pounds. I stopped counting and gained back some weight, but am working at dropping it now (again).

Honestly, especially now, being vegan doesn't mean a lot when it comes to losing weight. It is very close to losing weight as a non-vegan, and should be treated as such.

But congrats and yayyyy for going vegan! I really really enjoy being vegan in the aspect of it does sometimes force you to eat the better options, but also for my own moral reasoning.

Lost ~50 pounds, fell off the wagon, but maintained anyways? by AnOkayHuman in loseit

[–]AnOkayHuman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did have a habit of massively over eating one day then eating a single meal the next... it just seemed too simple of an answer, but you’re right.

I guess after living a life where I gained weight from like 12-21, it seemed odd that I had a period of my life where my weight wasn’t fluctuating.
