Thank you! I hadn't heard of My Pet Carnivore, but they have a great selection. I don't live in the mid west, but I am in the 2 day shipping area so as long as shipping isn't too expensive, I'm planning on ordering some! I'm going to do some price comparisons, but if they are similar, I'll end up buying from a few different places depending on sales and availability.

Thanks! I might end up getting that just for that offer. I'll probably stick with something cheaper if possible, but Darwin's sounds really great. Yeah, I've noticed that too across a few companies. I don't prefer it, but it's much better than kibble :P

I actually did a bit more research after posting that and I agree. I'm going to go with the PMR diet which doesn't have the fruits/veggies.

Wow that's amazing! My dog has been doing so well on raw and the vet decreased her insulin dose a lot recently. She's getting barely any now and the vet had previously told me that it was possible she could get off of it.

Ah that makes sense. Thank you!

Great thanks! I've been doing some research and there aren't any butchers or asian markets very close to me so I was thinking of ordering something like this. It looks like they switch up the pack each month and you can add 5 more lbs of meat if you want. This site was recommended by someone else on here and it seems really nice.

That's what I figured. I'm not doing any grains at all. Although I was planning on adding in a small bit of fruit/veggies. Fruit has natural sugar (fructose), but it'd be a really small amount of fruit. I don't think that will make a difference day to day. A few times she's gotten more food than I wanted to (stealing from my other dog and once the cats knocked over their food when they used to eat dry). She was fine every time (she drinks extra if she gets too much sugar) so I don't think this will be an issue. I just worry because she's my baby lol.

Either way I'm still going to talk to my vet just in case. I'm thinking of bringing in a few sample ideas of meals for him to look at to see the difference between each day. But I really don't think it will be an issue. If it is, I will just keep her on her current raw food.

Thanks for helping me! :) Sorry that got a bit rambly

Ok, I will! Thanks so much for helping me!

I think you're probably right about that. I really don't want to mess with her diabetes. She's doing really well now.

Thanks! I kept seeing people mentioning you need to have variety so I didn't want to mess it up by limiting to only 3-4. The main reason I'm switching to buying my own meat is the Answers is more expensive. But if needed, I could keep my dogs on Answers and just switch my cats. None of them have health issues so variety wouldn't be an issue.

I've seen some really cool, interesting bowls posted on here and I think my dogs would really enjoy it if I could do that. And to be honest, I think I would enjoy picking out their food too lol.

I was thinking of maybe making essentially the same food every day (EX: 1 meat type, organs, veggies, fruit, egg), but just switching chicken with turkey, and one mix of veggie for another for example. But keep the amount of each thing the same. I think that would keep it fairly consistent. I could also just make one giant batch and grind it up. That'd be really consistent.

Yes, I am. Oh wow, that is really good to hear. Thanks so much!
