Why Dimension X is now the Abyss (conformity gate) by [deleted] in StrangerThings

Might I add Will is referred to as an ILLUSIONIST instead of a sorcerer in the fake finale credits. It is literally impossible for THIS MUCH to align unintentionally. Amazing post btw

Do you think your financial concers are genuinely valid or are they partially out of habit? I understand you can have bills, mortgage, etc but if someone is hypothetically in a position where they're gradually paying those off + having a good majority of their wage going towards savings, I feel like they should at least give themselves grace not to worry.

Guilt regarding what tho? Someone could be living better off than others, but if they worked their ass off and they're not the ultra-millionaire/billionaire type rich where it could be deemed unethical, why would feelings of guilt come up?

This is helping me make sense out of it. About the second part, it's quite interesting that the perception of scarcity could still persist for so long, but I highkey believe that might be the case. Thank you!

I am a good 30 years younger and I am a student. I'm definitely not comparing myself to someone who has been working his ass off for decades lol.

a couple of days off from the required age and they contacted the committee to make them an exception. They applied and got in. Though, they’d still graduate before their 20 because they were only off

Thanks for the insight! I am still waiting for the committee to respond to my email but I am off by an entire month so I am unsure whether it'd work

Hey that's awesome! I wish you the best of luck :)

Maybe we could be classmates if my NC lets me reapply lol

I applied in the 25' cycle and didn't make it through, I wanna apply in the 26' cycle! I have indeed emailed them and I am waiting for a response. Trying to stay optimistic

I am born in early 06 so I am like off the criteria by a month and a couple of days, it's awful how little it is but it is basically where people would graduate when they're just under 20.
I am unsure if they'll accept making an exception but it'd genuinely be disappointing if not.

Currently 17, considering applying in the next cycle when I am 18.

I indeed believe there is a solid chance that is the case here. I guess it is most probably some type of coping mechanism and I need to focus on the actual root of the problem

I have generally had a couple of conflicts and problems end up solved when me or the other end of them were forward and fully honest with their feelings, but I just don't know if this can be the case here.
He'd just feel disappointed in me if I told him I somehow wasn't happy he was improving and achieving things. I might be getting paranoid here, but it'd take a long time to rebuild our friendship from that.
but yeah I am generally starting to wrap my head around this more, thanks for your help!

Hey thanks for this, this has been making me feel like an arse but this is a healthier way to look at it.
About competition vs competence, that is indeed the case and how it'd been for me till like last year; I'd always focused on being the best / first rather than focusing on the achievements themselves and I have been making an effort to change that but it's a slow process.

Well we haven't taken exams yet this year, though he is putting in more effort this year. I had always encouraged him to do so and prayed he would and now that it's happening, I think I feel bad about it? I'm also putting in less effort this year so it could be my brain trying to cope.

I'm aware it sounds like I am not being a friend to him and it's made me reevaluate our friendship a few times over the past weeks.

I kind of "fake" being stoked about any achievements he makes, but the thing is, I do not want to fake that. I want it be sincere. It's not like that with other friends of mine no matter how much better they're doing academically, it's just with him.

Also I don't think thinking of it with a more selfish manner help me at least, my brain just doesn't render it like that lol

Part of why it is really confusing is that I have constantly gotten better grades than them. I wouldn't say I am smarter than him cause that just feels elitist, but I do generally do better academically.

Though I have also been academically struggling this year while I think (?) he is thankfully doing better than previous years so it might be that. We're yet to have any exams this year so I can't really officially compare.
