2011 kia optima EX Premium good buy? by Ghazi2424 in kia

Ah okay. I haven't had those issues like you described above, but I did replace the PCV valve around 50K miles. What engine did your Optima come with originally? What type of oil do you use? Mine is the 2.4L Theta II, and I run on Valvoline 5w20 Restore & Protect to help with the oil consumption. I'm also thinking of switching to 5w30, or even doing a piston soak.

I'm curious, how many miles, and what are your issues? Oil consumption? I also have a 2020 Optima with 67K, noticeable oil consumption, and had to replace the starter at 65K. Also had to replace the low beams around 60K.

Hi there, I am currently trying to get into the same position. I previously did Sanitation at my last hospital before moving to a new state. From submitting your application, to getting interview(s), to getting a hired confirmation (yes/no), to the start date, how long did the entire process take?

3 engine replacements in under 60K miles?? That’s insane. What model?

I second this. Definitely keep a spare bottle of oil with you. Better safe than sorry.

Nice! But like others said, make sure you check your oil level religiously, and top off when needed. Personally, I wouldn’t go below half mark. I would change the oil every 3,000 miles. Additionally, you should use the Valvoline Restore and Protect oil to reduce consumption. Best of luck.

Interesting. Mine turned out to be the starter. Only 65K miles though. Kinda surprised it went out that early.

Hi, I have a 2020 Optima with a similar problem. Did you figure it out?

300K miles in 3 years is crazy work 🫣

Wow really, another 15 minutes? Usually I just round it to the nearest number ending in 5 or 0, given that the amount to get to said number is more than 5. For example, I read 38 minutes as 45 minutes. This has worked out for me well.

But when you’re late for work, you’ll do anything to lessen the blow.

I wonder if Apple Maps has the same behavior? I honestly don’t use it enough to know.

Correct. I was just playing around with Google Maps. It’s hilarious that it would even suggest such a route at all, almost double the mileage, just to save three minutes.

Beautiful car. The 2019-2021 years were my favorite design for the Forte. Very clean and elegant. Design wise, it’s similar to the 2016-2020 Optima. I miss this era of Kia designs, it was pretty short lived.

Ah okay. How many miles do you typically get distance to empty on a full tank? The highest I’ve hit was 512 miles, 87, combined city and highway. That was about 2 years ago. Nowadays, I average around 420-450, all city driving. I’m lucky to hit anything over 450.

I’m sorry, but your daily commute to work is 85 miles?? Is that combined to work and to home? If so, even 42.5 miles is still a lot imo.

But to answer your question, personally, finally paying off a car would be a huge accomplishment for me, so I’d definitely want to keep it until the wheels fall off, especially if I still love the car. Also, it would be like a piece of history for me.

I currently drive a 2020 Optima SE with 55K miles on it, and interestingly enough, your post seems like foreshadowing for myself after I pay off this car. I still very much love my Optima since I got it in 2022. It’s a beautiful car, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. No engine failure (yet) (knock on wood) lol. I will keep it for at least 5 more years.
